Softball Week 3 - USF Tournament

OBP percentage of top Lady Vol players

Seggern 566
Ayala 486
Shipman 455
Morgan 468
McCrary 447
Webber 370
Hannon 358
Parson 382
Holcomb 324
Phillips 300
Milloy 290

So you need to find some way to get the top eight in the lineup everyday and then choose from the other three. This is exactly what we've been doing for the most part in the last several games.

Seggern 566 2B
Ayala 486 RF
McCrary 447
Shipman 455 C
Morgan 468 1B
Webber 370 DH
Hannon 358 CF
Phillips 300 3B
Willingham 292 SS

I think we have to find a way to keep playing Webber and McCrary they have produced quite well in a starting role. Was hoping Milloy would be good enough to beat out Hannon for CF hasn't happened thus far.

I dont think it's as simple as using OBP to set your lineup. I apologize if that's not what you were implying.

Not that simple you also have to determine other things. However this seems to be the strategy that the Weeklys are using as they are using Seggern as a leadoff hitter and she is also the person that gets on the base the most often. Although I don't agree with using her there it certainly seems to have increased run production in the last few games. I would be more inclined to start out with speed plus highest obp in the top spots and put the power hitters in the three four five spots.

Good start for Turner if she is not walking people I count that a good start. She can field too.

I wonder why baseball doesn’t use this technique? Probably because it doesn’t work. Let the girls hit. Enough with fake bunting.
I agree and the same with the jump when the pitch is thrown. Our ss in the ETSU game on the walk off hit up the middle was still in the air when the ball was hit....if you can do it, fine, but if it’s not natural and your timing is off..bad results just like the fake bunt. If you are trying to shorten your swing with two strikes, just shorten your swing.

The lefthanded hitters except Holcomb are having great success against this pitcher today. Shipman has drilled her too. The weak hitters in the lineup have been Phillips and Holcomb both failed in big spots.

Good job Turner and the D. She has a nasty changeup. If she can just dial in fastball location.
