Note: This could be a complete rumor, but this is what I heard from a reliable friend.

I had to get that out of the way first because I know I may get blasted for this, but I am not one to post things like this...etc.

I will not mention any names, but a current recruit has said that he has spoken with a few current players on the team about Dooley, and they have said "they can't stand Dooley". They don't like his personality and how things are being run, and things like this are being relayed to more than just this recruit I am speaking about.

Now with that being said, this was said by this recruit before the O & W game and before the two recent committs. I watched the O & W game and things looked upbeat to me, so maybe things have changed since then. I have actually liked what I have heard from CDD and hope he can get the ball rolling in the right direction. But this is something that you don't like hearing because it can affect more than one recruit. It also just could be when CDD started he was making sure the current players knew it was his way or the highway which rubbed some players the wrong way, and now they are coming around to him. I was wondering if any of the recruitng guru's had heard anything along these lines?

Once again, sorry for the rumor post, mods please delete if felt necessary.

If there is any truth to this than it is not good. But it was probably Aaron Douglas spewing off hate before he made it public that he was transferring.

AD was not the specific name mentioned, but he could have been one.

There are always players on a team who has problems with a coach. Every team in the nation has this problem, its part of sports.

He seems to be a pretty likable guy to most so if there's a few that "can't stand him" oh wells...

IDK how much of this I believe. If true it is concerning. I do believe there is some negativity left over or at least was left over by the way the former regime jumped ship. It's hard to buy into another coach's rah-rah when you been shafted recently.

I honestly just don't see the players shooting their own feet in such a way. That is to say they know their own needs. I don't see it.

Well, first and foremost all players on the team have been under Fulmer and Kiffin or just Kiffin. Dooley is very much not alike to either of those 2 coaches. DD seems to require the discipline that Fulmer should have had and seems to not be a "player's coach" like Kiffin was (playing hip-hop during warm-ups, etc).

Of course, we're seeing this from a 3rd Person and fans perspective. We have no idea how any of those guys were like as coaches and undoubtedly would differ drastically from person to person. Perhaps Kiffin made promises to certain players that DD outright said he wouldn't honor?

One way or another you'll always have some guys that will defect and some that just simply won't buy into a new staff. Happened with Kiffin... it will happen with Dooley. Lets just see how this works out before taking the word of one or two possibly disgruntled players.

not all players liked Fulmer, not all players liked Kiffin and not all players will like Dooley. It means nothing

This is also my sentiment, however, I do not like current players saying negative info to recruits whether they like the new coach or not.

and you have no proof that it happened so no need to worry yourself over it

This could be bad. OTOH, it could be neutral. OTOH, it could be good.

If no one complained then you'd probably have something to worry about. However if this is true and a reflection of a bigger problem then it could be damaging. It could also just be some growing pains that were bound to come as they get used to him.

(not a rumor) A good friend of mine said he knew some players from back in the day and they said former coach Fulmer liked chocolate cake and was a swell guy.

As easy as it is these days, if they couldn't stand him enough they'd just transfer like Brown and Douglas. I mean, there's always going to be a couple of *those guys* on every team.

Since most folks have their own personality types, it would be unusual to have an entire team happy with any one coach. Who are these supposed players who are doing the bad mouthing? I would think if there are some, word would get around within the team, and they would be called out by, not only the staff, but the team leaders especially. All statements from our junior and senior leaders have been very positive of coach Dooley. Are theese players second stringers that think they should be first, or third stringers who think the should be second. Who knows? However, if any are doing any damage to our recruiting, and are found out, they need to be given their walking papers, too. No chemo or radiation here, cut out the cancers.

Doubt many BAMR players think Saban is their buddy. Dooley has one heck of job to do to fix the program. Not too worried about a couple of malcontents

I hope "those guys" are the ones that are leaving, and the ones that don't quit running their mouth.

Well, in I remember correctly Kiffin had about 12 players leave the program during his tenure, so I would say that some players, do and don't like the coaches, especially in the situation were a guy might have committed to Kiffin last year, and now Dooley is their head coach. From what I have seen you couldn't have two more opposite coaches in Kiffin and Dooley, so there is bound to be some guys that might be disgruntled.

have you heard anything to the contrary? just wondering, you seem to hear or know quite a bit. from the little I've seen of him, he seems to be the kind of coach I'd like to play for.

I personally am not concerned about how much the current players like him, but that some current players may be giving negative vibes to recruits. And as LV said, he had not heard this, so hopefully it was more of an isolated event.
