Some current players on Dooley(rumor)

Someone already beat me to this, but remember 98% of the players are not his recruits. They came here for Fulmer/Kiffin, not Dooley. It's not that big of a surprise that some may not like his style...

have you heard anything to the contrary? just wondering, you seem to hear or know quite a bit. from the little I've seen of him, he seems to be the kind of coach I'd like to play for.

Every player I have heard speak about Dooley loves playing for him and his staff. I'm sure some will not be totally happy, but Dooley isn't near as abrasive as Kiffin was and is much more personable.

I personally am not concerned about how much the current players like him, but that some current players may be giving negative vibes to recruits. And as LV said, he had not heard this, so hopefully it was more of an isolated event.[/QUOTE]

Again - there is nothing to substantiate that it every happened in the first place...

And before we go down the next turn in the road, just because you can't substantiate that it didn't doesn't mean it did.

Exactly. That said, I remember hearing about plenty of kids that couldn't stand the way Kiffin ran things. True or not, this is a non issue. All Dooley needs to do is convince these kids that if they follow his plan, they will have an opportunity to win every game they play. Once/if the players buy into that thought process, they won't give a flying you-know-what about administrative and procedural differences.

The first thing Cutcliffe did upon his return to Knoxville was put a boot in Ainge's ass, made him get a haircut, and ripped the earrings out of his sissy-punk ears. Over the next two seasons he turned into one of the most accurate and dependable passers in the SEC. Players care about winning, and Dooley is making it a point to recruit kids who want to play AND win at UT, not simply play for CDD.

Note: This could be a complete rumor, but this is what I heard from a reliable friend.

I had to get that out of the way first because I know I may get blasted for this, but I am not one to post things like this...etc.

I will not mention any names, but a current recruit has said that he has spoken with a few current players on the team about Dooley, and they have said "they can't stand Dooley". They don't like his personality and how things are being run, and things like this are being relayed to more than just this recruit I am speaking about.

Now with that being said, this was said by this recruit before the O & W game and before the two recent committs. I watched the O & W game and things looked upbeat to me, so maybe things have changed since then. I have actually liked what I have heard from CDD and hope he can get the ball rolling in the right direction. But this is something that you don't like hearing because it can affect more than one recruit. It also just could be when CDD started he was making sure the current players knew it was his way or the highway which rubbed some players the wrong way, and now they are coming around to him. I was wondering if any of the recruitng guru's had heard anything along these lines?

Once again, sorry for the rumor post, mods please delete if felt necessary.

Why do you guys post stuff like this? I know you qualify it by saying it's a rumor but that doesn't mean anything. It still spreads bad news, news that likely isn't true.

Are you trying to gain some attention by indicating that you know or have talked with a curerent recruit?:banghead2: Well if that's what you are trying to do, the reverse has happened. You have absolutely no credibility with me. What a monumental fail.

It's growing pains people. It happens with every program. We can't know if it's true or not, but it's normal IMO. If there are more reports of this in several years, I think it would be more concerning.

I don't like my boss at all, he's a complete arse, but my company just hired 300 people in this economy so I don't complain with the results.

Most of us played sports. You don't always like your coach. The best coach I ever had, I could not stand, but he was a damn good coach. It's not a popularity contest, if he makes them better players they will respect him and thats all the really matters.

Need to start a website "jobs for vol fans .com". Where do you work?

On the OP, isn't this being critical of the palyers for what this board does every day? We, as fans, should have the best interest of the team at heart, but you can read the spew of irresponsible posts everyday. These (just like the supposed player) impact recruits. When you post negative stuff here, its for the whole world to see. Talk negatively to one recruit...its one recruit. Food for thought.

I love attention, so I will start a rumor. My grandma was at the beauty shop and the hairdresser whispered in her ear while she was under the dryer that a friend of a friend of an enemy who shot her a bird during a fit of road rage screamed an cuss word while she was farding (applying makup) in her SUV.......................................

As evidenced by the negative contingent on here, some people need very little reason to dislike someone. There's always going to be one or two kids who "can't stand" a coach. Its human nature, some people just don't mesh well. Maybe this was the case with Bryce Brown or AD--who knows, but all that said I don't think CDD will lose this team. He may not make many friends, but thats not a coaches job. He's not there to be these kid's buddy--he's there to mold them into men, and that doesn't happen with bending the rules or your ethics in order to appease a few 18-22 year olds.

Give the man some time. I think the overwhelming majority will learn to respect CDD, then maybe, eventually, like the man--but the latter is not required to produce good football players, the former is.

Do not typically post but could not pass up quoting an old friend, a doctorate in the fields of psychology and theology, who said the human can liken lies, assumptions and rumors from individuals as those attempting to avoid reality and revealing their insecure inner self. He said a person spreading a rumor was obtuse, for he thought "Rumors equated to one- Repeating Utterances Mindlessly Often Reveals Stupidity." Well lies, rumors and assumptions can all end up being “septic” and therefore require pumping and dumping to the appropriate venue as we should dispel with this and all rumors.

All I hope for my alma mater stay the course and improve. Go Vols.

I know 7 players on the team (4 walk-ons, 2 back-ups, and 1 likely starter) 5 of them have played under Kiffin and Dooley, and 2 of them have played under all 3. I have not asked them specifically to rank the coaches they’ve played for, but the two (both backups) who have played for all 3 clearly prefer Fulmer to CLK and DD. The 5 (one presumed starter and 4 walk ons) are split. One of the walk-ons I have talked to has no real preference from what I can tell. Another preferred Kiffin to DD. The other two walk ons hated Kiffin and are indifferent about DD. The starter HATES DD, but likes his position coach pretty well. He liked Kiffin a lot, but loved a previous staff member more.

If you find coaches that can jive and shuck with the players, you will find their win/loss at the bottom. When I find in a department everybody loves their boss, that equal poor performance. In time the players will learn his ways and find respect for him. There's many athletics that are into playing around 90% of the time, we don't want them anyway. We still over time will have the best

This sounds a little personal...
