Some food for thought

So in other words, you have no answer?

Tell me how Jones isn't a proven winner. Tell me how with this much attrition we are supposed to just beat everyone. Tell me how we are supposed to disregard the top recruiting class in the country right now.

Where did I say anything about Butch Jones being or not being a proven winner? You were the one who suggested that he could only win with talent comparable to Alabama.

I never said we should beat everyone. Where did I say anything of the sort? Where did anyone on this board ever say anything of the sort? You know, I keep hearing about these people who expect us to win every game, but I never actually see them post. Odd.

Who has the top recruiting class in the country right now? Us? Where did you get that? I see Alabama listed as such on 247 and rivals. We're pretty high. That's great. But it doesn't mean anything until they actually sign. Do you know who had the top rated recruiting class this time last year? Wasn't it USC? How did they finish?

You said how can we recruit without a proven winner. I never suggested he couldn't win until Alabama players but he won't win consistently until then. I was suggesting this for all those so upset with a loss to Florida. It will take time. We don't have the horses to compete yet. Its just the truth

Excuse me proven big name coach and don't win... I would still think Butch is recognizable enough in the college game but that is a different discussion

Once again, please read what I wrote. I wrote a "proven big name coach", not a "proven winner". There's a difference.

But, we can agree that you have to win something to keep the recruits coming right? You can't just rely on the "we don't have enough talent" excuse forever, right? At some point, you actually have to beat someone who has more talent, right?

This year yes forever no. This year honestly and maybe even next might be washes. 2015 should be marked improvement

Take the scenario that Bray is at QB Saturday- do you feel we would win with Bray at QB? I DO!! we are dreadful at QB this year. IF YOU CAN go back and look at the play where the Fla. player got ejected for the head to head contact, PIG is running the lane next to Downs and nobody is within 20 yards of him we would have scored there, think about it............

Honestly, I think you have to have upsets or you're not going to make it in the SEC. Maybe not this year. Maybe you get through this year and just beat teams with less talent and keep your legacy class together. But then, I really think you have to have a big upset or two next year or this coach just won't make it in the SEC.

There is too much money on the line and recruiting is too difficult and too important for someone to take so long before getting big wins. It just doesn't happen that a coach comes into the SEC and doesn't have any big wins for 2 years and then becomes a champion. Not in the past 20 years.

Prices are so high. There is so much money invested. There is so much media saturation. You have to prove yourself quickly. You don't get multiple years that are just washes.
