Some of our fans suck

I agree that a louder crowd could have made a difference last Saturday, but I thought that everybody, team and crowd included, were "saving" their best efforts for the UK game. That Arkansas game was between an emotional win over Florida and what will be a very emotional night against UK. The team and the crowd put it into cruise control, and when they caught up, we could not get it turned back on.

The only thing that would have made a difference sat would have been some d and some rebounding. THe team gave up a 14 point lead and for the first time this season, ran out of gas. Pretty scary seeing as how this is how the tournament is going to be and these are tournament teams. The positive side is that this will give the team a good "feel" of big time tourney play. Gonna be fun to watch.

I like how everyone considers 18,000 a small crowd, when it was probly one of the top 5 highest attended games in the nation saturday

I'm going to work on a fake student ID for next year so I can stand up the whole game and scream without getting glared at.

Either that, or get me a Smokey suit.

LOL...I stood up the entire game Saturday. Fortunately, I was at the very top, so I didn't get too many people yelling at me. I got a few stares when trying to make noise while on defense, though.

Tonight's game is not technically a sellout yet. Late Tuesday, UT received a few hundred tickets from the student allotment of 5,000 that was not used.

:shakehead:

I hope there's more to that story. At face value that sounds absolutely pathetic if we really can't fill up a student section for the Kentucky game..

no, i think they still have to physically go get tickets, and you must have a ticket and valid id to get in.....so they swipe it then.....

Surprising. A bit disappointing, too. But hopefully with success over time it will not be an issue.

Who were the slugs behind the Kentucky bench? They just sat there! Even when they were standing up they had their arms folded! Why don't we have rapid freaks in those seats?

What a waste.

I almost pulled a Ron Artest on the fat kid in a blue dress shirt with his dad in the student section... and if you're out there buddy, sorry I called you a bad name. I was super pissed at your disrespect for the UT students around you.

No, we just swipe our id's. What happened was they TOOK seats away from the students. From what I heard it was ~1000 seats they decided we didn't "need"

I'm not sure as of yet if anyone got turned away, but there were a ton of people there at 6 when the student gates opened up.

So THAT's why I wound up yelling at the fat kid in the blue dress shirt...

I am personally ready for the "blue-hairs" to go away. Especially at Neyland.

I realize I'm wasting my time b/c I won't change anyone's mind that doesn't have respect for their elders, but I can't fight the urge any longer...

I'm a HUGE Vol fan that LOVES TO WIN - everything! I go to the football games - home and away. I go to the basketball games - good years and bad (unlike many fans who complain about lack of noise). I even make several of the baseball games each year.

I'm a UT graduate that's very proud of all the tradition and hope to always keep it that way. What I will never do is want someone that feels the same about my Vols as I do, and has been a fan for longer than I've been alive, to stop supporting our team. That's just flat out RUDE and insensative.

"Thanks for your support and large portion of your hard earned money all these years; however, now that you're reaching your final years and aren't as physically fit as you once were, we no longer want you to enjoy coming to watch the Vols play... um... but we'd really appreciate a donation from your social security check so that we can pay our million dollar coaches to produce a fun team for the younger fans to watch, and maintain our large facilities to accomodate a more energetic crowd. Feel free to purchase a Life Insurance policy naming UT as the beneficiary, so long as your old ass doesn't take a seat from a more able bodied person who's willing to stand the entire game."

If we didn't have the big money donors that you all are complaining about... we wouldn't even be on a message board talking about our basketball team. It makes me happy to see 18K+ fans at a basketball game again - young AND old.

You'll agree with me one day... even if I have to wait till you're the old fogies!

Signed,
A LOYAL Vol Fan that hopes to enjoy games for the next 50 years - whether the 'kids' want me there or not!

That's fine, don't bitch about other people making noise and supporting their team.
