Some praise from the SC fans

Say what you want but USC fans provided a model of consistency on how to support a sucky team. For years before they were relevant and obtained Spurrier they still had committed fans that traveled well and displayed their stickers. I'm hoping UT gets back to winning regularly and we don't have to continue to be "good" fans during bad times but hats off to the gamecocks for originally showing how it should be done.

Far departure from what you see out of say FL in recent years or Vandy ever.

I have a coworker that is a USCe fan. Last week, his response about the game was a bit arrogant and dismissive. I let it slide.

My initial desire this morning was to track him down and rub it in a little, but there's no need for all of that.

Win like we've been there.

Check the "Vent" thread on CockyTalk. They all want to fire Spurrier, haha. Not too smart of them, considering the OBC is literally every part and parcel the reason for the longest stretch of success their football program has ever had.

I don't think I'd trade Coach Jones for anyone at this point, but if the day after Dools was fired the OBC had called Dave Hart and said "I want to come home to Tennessee" I would have taken him in a heartbeat.

Spurrier's pretty old, how many coaching years does he have left in him?

Some guy gave Clowney the player of the game, and ESPN was even praising him.
BUT correct me if I am wrong, he had 2 TFL's and he had 2 personal foul penalties (horsecollar and face mask) those 2 basically cancel each other out?
CBJ ran at him several times and threw to his side on a few RO passes. In the end he didnt do too much to help his team win.
Hood, Walls, and McCullers all had better games defensively than he did.

I don't really know/ care who the player of the game was but from my perspective clowney didn't dominate, but 100% was more effective then in any other game hes played this year = hype

I went to the '06 game at SC. While we were walking out we were accosted by some drunk SC frat boys who were trying to start a fight with anyone wearing orange. I did not leave Columbia with a good impression.

Alot of the fan respect comes from how our players handled the Marcus Lattimore injury last year in Columbia. Our players showed concern for that guy when he was down on the field, as they should have. That kind of sportsmanship cascades sometimes, as is the case with the SC/UT matchup each year.

That thread is better than the one where a bunch of them were saying that we're intentionally injuring every team's good players, accused us of running a bounty system, and called us TennKNEEsee.

Good game, guys. You all out-coached us, out-worked us, and out-played us in every facet of the game. Y'all have an excellent coach, and your fans were super on Saturday, even after the game. They were all very humble and gracious. Good luck the rest of the season.

And I was wrong about the game. I'll gladly admit that. I figured we would win by a couple of TD's. I was wrong. UT fought and didn't give up.

Thanks man. One of my good friends is a die hard SC fan, I've been to a couple games in Columbia with him and always was treated great. I'll root for you guys any time it doesn't affect us.

Thanks for the kind words as always DV. This game meant a lot to our program, fans and especially our players. Just an absolutely fantastic game. Good luck the rest of the year to you all as well. GO VOLS!!

Thanks, man. BTW, if you are who I think you are (the ETSU team tag was my clue), we're Facebook friends and I enjoy your political rants. In Hoc.

Been to Columbia 3 times and all were great experiences. In 2008 we were walking through a tailgate area and out of nowhere some USC fans invited us over to watch games, eat and have some drinks. Wouldn't take our money even though we offered several times. I do the same at our home games but I'll never forget that. That's how it should work. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

I've been to Columbia twice & like their fans said, have never been treated badly. I think SC fans are some of best fans anywhere & as was stated earlier, they are loyal. They've never won anything yet their fans still show up & represent their university well. TN & SC fans are the class of the SEC. LSU, Fla & Vandy fans are the classless of the SEC. Bama is right there too as far as classless but they have so many bandwagon jumpers you never know who is a real fan & who isn't!

I'm glad you had a good experience. If you come next year, I hope you have an equally good experience. UT fans are always top-notch.

It was awe-inspiring watching the crowd and the players after the game. You could tell that it meant a lot. While UT is a program with a deep tradition and endless history, these last few years have been very rough for the Vols.

I think we spend all our hate on Alabama and Florida, and whatever is left might go towards Georgia.....we just don't have enough for left for the Gamecocks.

I'll say this too, I have been to USC, and as far as I am concerned Columbia is my favorite SEC campus outside of Knoxville. Lots of history, and a great atmosphere. Good food and the cheapest sin tax on alcohol and beer of any play i have been. They also have an excellent graduate business program....they're not the usual dummies.

Meh not always, even when Vandy was our annual whipping post (to be resumed again this year) their fans have always sucked.

Vandy fans always have been and always will be trash. For such a haughty and austere school they certainly have some mongoloids for fans.

I seem to remember their contingent cheering while Travis Henry lay motionless in the end zone about a decade ago.
