He is not my first pick, but I think he deserves a spot on UT's list if some of the bigger names don't get the job.

Here is my argument.

Dude has an actual winning record. Last season they went 8-5 and showed up pretty well against TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl. This season seems to be even better. They are 5-1 and played aTm pretty close. I think if he gets his team to another decent bowl game he deserves some mention by UT's hiring committee.

Also Dykes can coach a decent defense. Something we really need.

And yes, I do realize the irony, but it may be worth some consideration.

I read somewhere that he is the likely replacement for Joker at KY.

Not trolling on this. Dykes has put together a tidy season thus far.

Never said he was a top pick. Just someone who deserves a bit of consideration pending how his season turns out.

Tidy season? Beating cupcakes in no way qualifies him to coach at Tennessee.

Nerd, this thread is further proof of why I'd never hire you to be my lawyer

La Tech has played one ranked team this year (#22 A&M) but their defense is giving up an average of 555 yards per game. That's 125 yards per game more then Tennessee and our schedule has been infinitely tougher. That doesn't sound like a defense we need.

Dude has a winning record. That makes him a damn sight better than our most recent hire.

I like Dykes. What he's doing at La Tech is pretty impressive. I like that he's had success as a coordinator in a bigger conference too. And he was once ranked as one of the top assistant coach recruiters in the nation. I think he could do great things at Tennessee.
