Sooner fan really looking forward to the game

The brutal awakening these Oklahoma fans suffered at the difference between the B12 and the SEC still makes me chuckle. These who started and participated in this thread in particular, because they were so cocky coming in.

The Germans knew a thing or two when they came up with the idea of schadenfreude.

Go Vols!

I said from the very beginning that Oklahoma will have a rougher adjustment period in the SEC than Texas, but I do believe they'll get it figured out eventually. They're too proud and too storied of a program to become South Carolina. But it's going to take some time.

I agree, don't think they'll become South Carolina. But it's entirely possible they become LSU or Auburn. A team that is sometimes up but often riding a level below the top teams in the conference. Like UGa under Mark Richt. That kind of "success without championships".

One thing for sure they won't do...and I mean ever, as long as they're in the SEC even if it is for two centuries or longer, is win another 50 conference titles. That only happens in a "snow white and seven dwarfs" place like the B12 and B8 while they were there.

Yeah you're right. Auburn is probably a good comparison.

I agree. New Coaches as well will see how difficult it is to come in and be a success unless they have been in the SEC.

"The Grind" is the one thing that other conferences cannot duplicate. Yes, you may get an upset or two in your first or second year or catch an opponent early in the season but you have to build depth and consistency.

A coach wants to come to the SEC, but will quickly realize to be careful for what you wish for in the future. The portal and recruiting are greatly needed to help this process. I would like to see the Conference go to 4 divisions to better facilitate scheduling and balance out strength of scheduling for tie breakers.

I hope you were really looking forward to the Mizzou game too 💋 💋 💋 💋

Let's do some season perspective.
Oklahoma has played 10 games and lost five

Tennessee has played nine games and won eight

Even if Oklahoma wins out, they can't reach a wins without a bowl game which you likely won't make 💋 💋 💋 💋 💋

I knew they were going to struggle this year, but I really expected them to pick up a win they shouldn't have gotten based on the rest of the season. Mizzou was their best chance for that.

I guess they still have chances with Bama and LSU still to play, but I don't see it.

But but but they have FIFTY cupcake conference championships. That has to count for something, right?
It counts more than never sniffing winning a conference title game ( 32 straight years and mounting) and only playing in 2 (last century) and looking on the outside again. See you in Knoxville in ‘25.

Great win last night!

Look forward to watching you take your medicine again after next year’s game, hon!

Dang, we were all ready to be nice to you too. Got one big win and think you’re the cock of the walk again? Good win yesterday. We will indeed see you in Neyland next year. I doubt you’ll be pleased with the result.
