Sorry guys, but this one's going to tick you off

I think it is important to remember that the best Vanderbilt team of all time is only 4 points better than one of Tennessee's worst. There is nothing to see here.

Check out this propaganda video from Vandy posted on coaching search.com. Remember that Dooley celebration video taken from the locker room after the TN win over Vandy? Well, here's their version and you best believe they're using it to send a message.

Bottom line, this crap should NEVER happen again!

Video: Behind the scenes of Vanderbilt's win at Tennessee

By the way, I only posted this because I think it's critical to understand the importance of how winning from the bottom up will be how we rise back to our rightful place among the CFB elite.

Know your opponents, and known them well.

Butch Please

Vandy has in fact improved under Franklin - but you and they are forgetting, that was under Dooley's watch -- when there were times when Vandy's recruiting classes were ranked higher than ours. Last I checked - we had 18 4 and 5 stars in this class and Vandy has three. With Butch the pendulum, momentum and landscape has dramatically changed. I know it, Franklin knows it - I would look for him to bolt at the first good opportunity.

After all Butch gets it.

Kuharsky is a idiot! I can't stand that guy. Clay Travis is all that station has. He might praise Franklin but he wants him to leave town as much as any UT fan. Like all Vols fans that just want their automatic win back every year.

I would pay money for Franklin to stay - and don't kid yourself our automatic win is coming back soon with or without Franklin - preferably with. The stars were aligned for Franklin -- having someone as awful as dooley coaching at UT. Please don't underestimate the value of having Dooley at Tennessee and how that correlated with Vandy's improvement. Matthews - ( not recruited by Franklin ) turned out to be a great player - Vandy will be down next year imo and I pray Franklin is at the stern to witness it. Like I said - I think he will bolt at the first opportunity.

Reading through the posts, there's still a lot of good ongoing debate, and I'm reminded of our passionate, yet knowledgeable fan base.

I agree with many that this is Vandy's moment in the sun, and I guess that I'm shamefully hypersensitive over this issue because I remember the days of not having to hope we win a game against Vandy to make it to a bowl. Also, I have to give credit to Franklin for taking advantage of the situation at UT over the last several years, as that's what good coaches do. They find a way to win.

I hope he stays at Vandy, because I want the UT of old to reemerge and convincingly place Vandy back in their rightful position. Ironically, the video was posted at coachingsearch.com, so it appears as if it's being used as a 'please hire me and staff' campaign.

We have been in a unique situation this past season with a somewhat depleted roster and a new staff implementing their new system. I just hope next year marks the true beginning of the climb. Although you play every game to win, I think it's critical to set our goals in a bottom up order. In the future, this coaching staff needs place an emphasis on beating the "beatable" teams first, no matter where they fall on the schedule.

Take your glasses off, because right now your blind. Is your Shoes to tight? Tennessee can have the number 1 recruiting class the next 3 years but if Jones and Friends from Cincy don't coach any better than this season we will never be a champion. Franklin is way ahead of jones in SEC wins

read my posts genius. I've questioned Jones' coaching more than just about anyone on here. But to act like Franklin is doing something great by beating a lot of really bad teams is just laughable. I'll ask again, what is Franklin's record against opponents with winning records.

By that logic you must be under the impression we all thought "Tennessee is back" after Dooley beat you in OT.

Tennessee is "back" when we're in SEC Champ/ National Championship talk again. We're not Vandy, our ceiling isn't "winning season".

I've heard Vols fans say they're back every time they win a game. It doesn't matter if it's Vandy, UK or a top 10 USC jr. I've been hearing UT is back since the Kiffen hire!

I sure cant tell he wants him to leave town. Clay seems to want to turn just for James Franklin. I don't hear anything that Clay says that makes it sound like he wants Franklin to leave. It sounds to me like he wants him around forever. As a matter of fact, listening to them in interviews I'm pretty sure they've had an affair.

Every time a coaching job comes up Travis says Franklin should take it if offered. Travis is a UT fan. He's just smart enough not to drink the kool aid and admit the Vols aren't very good right now. I live in the Nashville area and Vandy gets no support from the local media what so ever! Despite all of that Franklin is still winning. That's something to be praised.

Vandy was down this year. They didn't have Zack Stacy, Jordan Rodgers and lost Boyd to the rape scandal. They had a ton of injuries this year too. Vandy won 8 games possibly 9 with a bowl win.

This was important to Vandy because they know as well as we do that with their resources they never should have beaten us. In their world, they are giant killers. It would be like us beating Bama this year.

The programs are not comparable with regard to resources, recruiting, fan support, nothing at all and yet they just put down two in a row on us.

I am convinced some people think we just deserve to win games because "We Are Tennessee". Well news flash, other teams don't give a rat's ass what we used to be. They only show up to play (and of late) beat the team we are.

Well we used to win games against better teams simply because those better teams weren't completely sure they could beat the team in Orange. The only exception was Spurrier coached Florida!

Travis is just being honest. For any decent coach, a small time program like Candy is just a stepping stone to a job at a real program. Candy gets no support from local media because they have sucked for over 50 years. Once Franklin leaves, they will quickly resume sucking.

Clay Travis is not a UT fan. He claimed to be a lifelong fan with family connections to the university in order to get access to the Athletic Department and Fulmer to write a book. It's one thing to be an unbiased pundit with allegiance to a school (see: Kirk Herbstreit), it's another to go out of your way to bash a school in order to gin up "controversy" and page views (see: Clay Travis).

His hackery is on full display on the FS1 pregame show. He's clueless and outclassed compared to the other hosts.

not watching it - and in all honesty im sure more vols fans have watched it than vandy fans.

they should not have been mad at DD for his ironic fist to the ceiling celebration and we shouldnt be mad at that.

Smith is a joke and not an SEC WR. He should be playing at Maryville.

Not sure if I would hand out the "joke" designation yet. He was a freshman. He was open (hence he must know how to run routes to some extent). He just dropped balls. To me that just speaks of nerves. Give him a bit more time and he can turn into something good I think. He was just another victim of coaches having to grasp at the best options they have, even if they're not quite ready. Had he gone to another school, he might have redshirted and not be seen until he was a junior. Then people wouldn't berate him over his freshman year. Not fullly jumping on his train, just saying wait and see what hapens with this one before labeling him anything.

NO! Injuries are a part of football. Vandy doesn't beat UF or UGA if either of those teams are healthy. Sorry to bust your bubble though. You beat another bad Vols team so congrats.

So if an injured Vandy team beats an injured Georgia team Vandy still sucks? If an injured Vandy team who played their worst game all season beats UT in Neyland stadium Vandy still sucks? Since 2011 Vandy is 23-15, UT is 16-21. SEC games during that time. Vandy 11-13 , UT 4-20.

You had like 4 players hurt lol. Georgia and florida both had injuries in the double digits.

I know. Vandy was just plagued by injuries though lol

Vandy isn't nearly as good as you try and make them out to be.

All I'm saying is Vandy is a winner right now. They're winning games when they aren't playing their best ball.

"Right now" is the key phrase. Vanderbilt's success will be short lived, much like James Franklin's career there (of course this is assuming another school actually offers him a job). And obviously this is Vanderbilt's best ball, they're 8-4. That's a lot more than you guys have won most years, and the bad thing is it all came against mediocre teams.

So, how many of those SEC teams candy played were playing at their best? Yeah, nice try. Franklin is extremely overrated. He's a good coach, but he has gotten very lucky and his team has played teams that were not very good or played good teams that were down at the time. Candy fans kill me thinking Franklin is the 2nd coming. To answer your question, yes vandy still sucks. Vandy will always suck.
