That is the one where he supposedly had the kids take out student loans under the promise the loans would be paid off well after their playing days were over

That would have been a smarter way to do it...from the LOA..

Former MBB HC
a. provided cash and prepaid cards that totaled approximately $6,000
to during the academic year. These benefits were applied
to student account at the institution to partially pay for his year
of residence expenses associated with tuition and room and board. The
next academic year, competed for and received travel expenses
from the institution. [NCAA Bylaws 10.1, 10.1-(c), 14.01.1, 14.3.2.1.1,
14.10.1, 15.01.2, 15.01.3, 15.02.4 and 16.8.1 (2013-14)]

I would say usm is going to have a very hard time not getting hammered to the highest degree. Death penalty aside nothing is off the table I would say

The nuts and bolts of allegation 3 pertain to the deleted e-mails, we already knew about that but also says this...

He further obstructed the NCAA
investigation by contacting some interviewees about the NCAA investigation and
influencing other interviewees to provide false or misleading information to the
enforcement staff and the institution concerning matters relevant to possible
violations of NCAA legislation.

Sound familiar?

Part of USM president Bennett's statement: the NCAA's notice of allegations does not include a charge of a lack of institutional control or failure to monitor the program by the University.

According to Jason munz, beat writer in Hattiesburg.

I really don't think Tyndall is a bad guy, he just has made some mistakes and I believe he has learned from that. Hope he gets another chance.

Based on Tyndall's statement at least we won't have to sit through a less than genuine, tearful confession. So....there's that.

Prepaid card????

Only thing I can think of is a meal plan purchased or the $ on those cards used for food on campus

What else could a prepaid card be??

I ask this ? To the board during our season when this stuff was leaking out. It didn't get much discussion but thoughts now.

Kid is from the streets and has only one hope of overcoming his environment. That's the education that school/basketball would bring.

The kid must make an A on a tough class at a JC. And then still has to pay his own way to school for a year. He isn't capable of either.

Is the coach being a good person or bad person for helping that kid?????

It's a fair stance either way IMO

Just saying, if I was a coach id done the same thing. I'd rather bend the rules than see a kid struggle.

Depends on how you look at it.

The act itself isn't the worst thing ever, but you also have your employer, your family, and your coaches to think about. So you're doing something "good" but you're also putting the rest in serious danger.

The way I see it the act would be being a great compassionate person but being a terrible coach.

Sometimes hard to negotiate the two

It's compassionate I guess, but there are rules. And yesterday the discussion was about what his family is going through; well, it's not very compassionate to knowingly put your family in that position.

And again, this wasn't his first rodeo with allegations like this, which IMO makes it even worse that he so quickly finds himself in trouble.

Agreed.

I hate this happened to him but in all honestly I don't know what to think of him. I like to think he's a good guy at heart but the skeptical part of me thinks he's just really bad at cheating.
