Scott Manley's YouTube channel is awesome. Great videos on space exploration. And Kerbal Space Program if you are a nerd like me lol.
Yep I watch him and the Everyday Astronaut occasionally TMRO and to keep up with the construction at the Space X Boca Chica Launch facility I keep an eye on Spadre.com South Padre Island Information

They have a constant Live Feed pointed at the facility with pretty good views on a clear day. They also give an updated video about every week or every other week on the construction as seen in this vid from yesterday.

Lot of us here are closet nerds. Lots of space aficionados, history buffs, etc..Grand you are pretty much the grand poobah of the PF..we should start a thread where we can post links to nerdy stuff we are interested in on other sites etc...i have learned a good bit about new space missions, the civil war, the events leading up to ww1 and ww2...etc..from picking up tidbits from posters here. Ras for one is quite knowledgeable about past geopolitics, conflicts, etc...louder also has cool interests, you are the gun poobah...we should start a thread thats a catchall for sharing facts, knowledge, even opinions that are interesting. Lots of car guys among us, too...Mcdad, Ob, etc...we can all use some more car smarts...figure out a cool name for it, Grand , and start 1 up. We can name it, too after Gramps...he would be happy about all of us getting along in there instead of bickering. Cool?

I'd think the OT thread would work for that. Just look at the gear head discussion going on at the moment.

Got to watch one go up from a cruise ship, we were a good ways away but it was still loud and impressive.

We took a tour a few days before the launch I went down to see. We went out on a bus and viewed the shuttle setting on the pad. One thing I remember the guide saying is If you're close to the shuttle when the rockets fire and the blast doesn't kill you the sound will. He said the sound can kill you at a much greater distance than the blast.

Thanks for the heads up. The NASA Channel usually televises launches.

Anyone ever go see a space shuttle launch? Wife and I saw one in 2009 from the Kennedy Space Center. You had to buy tickets to watch from there. Tickets were limited and you're pretty far away but I'm glad I got to see it. It was STS-125. Its mission was to repair Hubble.

Drove a few hours down to Titusville to watch the supposed last night launch ever at lile 3 AM and it was cancelled at the last minute. Lol

Some info from Today's NASA SpaceX-Demo 1 Press conference.

Looking like SpX-DM1 will go as planned! The inside will be completely identical to the Demo 2 (Crewed version) including a "dummy" to test some human body effects.

Times are estimates as of now. Exact times will be nailed down closer to launch.

Saturday, March 2, 2 a.m.: Live NASA TV coverage of SpaceX Demo-1 Commercial Crew demonstration mission. Launch is targeted at 2:48 a.m. EST. SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon spacecraft will lift off from historic Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

This will be the first uncrewed test flight of the Commercial Crew Program and will provide data on the performance of the rocket, spacecraft, and ground systems, as well as on-orbit, docking and landing operations. The flight test also will provide valuable data toward NASA certifying SpaceX’s crew transportation system for carrying astronauts to and from the International Space Station.

Saturday, March 2, 5 a.m.: SpaceX Demo-1 post-launch news conference from Kennedy Space Center, with representatives from NASA's Commercial Crew Program, International Space Station Program and Astronaut Office, and from SpaceX.

Sunday, March 3, 3:30 a.m.: SpaceX Crew Dragon rendezvous and docking at the International Space Station.

Sunday, March 3, 8:30 a.m.: SpaceX Crew Dragon hatch opening at the International Space Station. Hatch opening is scheduled at 8:45 a.m.

Sunday, March 3, 10:30 a.m.: SpaceX Crew Dragon welcoming ceremony at the International Space Station.

Friday, March 8, 12:15 a.m.: SpaceX Crew Dragon hatch closing in preparation for departure from the International Space Station.

Friday, March 8, 2:30 a.m.: SpaceX Crew Dragon undocking from the International Space Station.

Friday, March 8, 7:30 a.m.: SpaceX Crew Dragon deorbit and landing.

I didn't realize Luther was an astronaut.

According to Fox News, Obama & his family's vacations have cost taxpayers a sum of $454 Million + so far & counting w/no end in sight.

What is he supposed to do? Do you expect the president to never vacation again after they leave office?$454 million is quite high so maybe someone should tell him about Priceline.

I didn't realize Luther was an astronaut.

Oh yes, that was him in that Tesla that launched about a year ago. He passed Mars on an unusual around November I think. I guess he took his laptop with him since he's still posting. Unfortunately for ol' Luth he doesn't have a return ticket.

The wifey has given me a green light to do a space trip if I can ever go.. wish they'd expedite that commercialization of space travel.

If you had told people living in 1969 than 50 years later we'd be struggling to get onto the moon without Russia's help, they would have probably laughed their azzes off.
They probably would also do the same thing when told that Americans, Russians and men & woman from a number of other countries work & live aboard a Space Station for 3-6 months at a time. And most Americans don't even care when a rocket lifts off anymore.
