Spider-Man: No Way Home (Christmas 2021)

Really good movie. Now more excited about the future of the Sony spiderman universe than what Disney/marvel have planned.

After watching the second Venom movie....yeah not me. Marvel is still way better at this than they are.

Will Sony continue their own with shows/movies or will they continue the partnership with Disney?

They're trying to kind of do both. Spider-Man isn't leaving the MCU, they are working on another trilogy deal for Holland's SM and also have plans to bring Miles Morales as well. But they want their own "Spiderverse" movies that will take place either in the MCU or in the "multiverse".

Spider-Man No Way Home - 4.5/5

I wanted to believe all the rumors but thought it was to impossible to ever happen but to put it in pro wrestling terms the whole theater marked out with two major pops.

Unfortunately I didn't realize how long it was at 2:15 matinee and had to split the second the credits rolled so I missed the post credit scenes.

That could have worked if they had a live action MM movie coming out while the MCU is exploring the multiverse. They could've had both Spidermen appear in movies. Unless that's what they're trying to do with the upcoming spiderverse movie

Aside from the wow moments, I actually don't agree with all the love. Still damn good as all MCUs are, but even with the big "pops" I don't think it holds up vs the best of the best.

Recency bias IMHO.

Isn’t recency bias at all for me, it’s just that good imo. Top 3 with infinity war and endgame.

My first impression:

It was great but I’m not ready to declare it the best MCU movie to date.

I will say for a movie with 5 villains I was very impressed with how they made it work. Usually that would be a recipe for disaster.

So much to discuss. It was fun seeing Tobey and Andrew again. The banter between the 3 was fun. I loved when they freaked out about Tobey’s organic webs, joke about his back, Andrew saying he wants to fight an alien, and of course “You were an Avenger! That’s great! What’s an Avenger?”

That said, I was a little taken aback when Tobey stepped out and he looked so much older. Granted it’s been 20 years but I guess I just wasn’t ready for it LOL.

The villains were somewhat fixed from their original appearances. Defoe knocked it out of the park again and didn’t have to keep that stupid helmet on the whole time. The purple hoodie added to the more comic book look. I kept expecting him to get a new mask. Loved Electro’s flash of his mask when he used his power. Ock was great. The FX on Lizard and Sandman were a little off though.

Let’s talk death of Aunt May… So I have mixed feelings about this. When it was happening I really felt like I should be more upset. But the whole moment I just kept thinking “why did they erase Uncle Ben from the MCU? What has been Peter’s motivation this whole time?” I guess they had to take her off the board to make the ending work but it just really nagged at me that outside of What If they haven’t mentioned Uncle Ben once in these movies.

Now the part that did choke me up was Andrew saving MJ from falling. I’ve not even watched AMZ2 but knowing the Gwen story so well from the comics that really resonated to see his Spidey get a little redemption.

Tons more to discuss but I will wrap it up for now by saying I’m happy we are going to get a back to basics Spidey not boosted by Stark Tech.

Wow, that was good. Just got back, and that was awesome, and emotional, hard to explain. My baby girl cried several times, I wanted to🤣

Absolutely, you'd never think it's been years since he played that part. Still the best Spidey villain imo.

Agreed. And like you said, this movie has some really emotional and quite sad scenes. Just so many things happening. It’s a fun ride, can’t wait to watch it again!

Question would you watch new films with Andrew Garfield & Toby McGuire set in their universe?

Yep. The more Spider-Mans the better. I don't know if TM would do many more, maybe he'd do Spider-Man 4 if Rami was able to get that done. AG is younger so I could see him doing an ASM 3 and maybe another trilogy. Also we may find out Venom takes place in one of their universes and right now who knows where Morbius takes place.

Man IDK… I’m kinda in the leave well enough alone camp. I’m glad they are soft rebooting a lot of the things I didn’t love about MCU Peter. I would rather just follow that in the live action. Save all the multi-Spiders for the animated line.
