As I said in my review of after seeing it. If the sequels to this are anywhere close to this original, it will blow away the Raimi/McGuire/Dunst trilogy.

Definitely, I think this can be a Dark Knight-esque reboot trilogy for the franchise. Seems much darker and more serious than the Raimi trilogy, like the Nolan trilogy has been for Batman (never will be THAT good though).

Agreed. Although Spiderman isn't supposed to be as dark as Batman, I like the mix of witty humor and seriousness. I think this trilogy has the potential to be an epic one like Nolan's Batman trilogy. I think the series will get better as it goes like the Nolan trilogy. Raimi's series took a nosedive after the 2nd movie.

I really liked it, and I went in with rather low expectations. I'm one who really liked the the first trilogy with 3 being by far the weakest, and I think this first one is much better than the other first one. It felt more serious yet it stayed comical just enough. It makes the first one seem downright goofy. Comparing the second movies in each franchise will be the real key, as I think SM2 is definitely the best of the original.

I actually feel bad for it a bit since its timing of release. It's sandwiched between 2 of the biggest, most anticipated superhero movies ever so I'm not surprised it's been somewhat overlooked.

Who do you think the guy in the Shadows could be?

Maybe it could be Mysterio the Master of Illusion.

It could be mysterio because he suddenly appears. It could be electro because he appears at a flash of lightning. It could be Osborn because he looks and talks sickly.

Overall. It's Mysterio, Electro, or Osborn. IMO

I saw that. He could be right or he could be blowing smoke. They make it seem obvious that Osborn will be in the sequel since he was mentioned multiple times in the movie.
