Tennessee beating South Carolina was the exception, not the rule. If that game was played 10 times, South Carolina wins 7-8 of those. The stars aligned and UT pulled out a win.

People tend to forget those wasted time outs by OBC at the end

People always say things like this. "Spurrier called time-outs, Shaw went down, miracle catch" etc etc.

Y'all must have seen a different game that I did. I saw a very well played game from Tennessee. I saw us run the ball hard, I saw Worley make exceptionally good decisions with no errors, and I saw Palardy handle the pressure like a champ.

That game was no accident, we were the better team on the field that day. Both in coaching and in execution.

2013 South Carolina is very confused by this statement....

I don't blame a Florida fan for not having respect for Tennessee, but we're not Kentucky. It's stupid to assure yourself that losing to us means you can't beat anyone.

Two different situations.

For sc, they came off an 11-2 season. They've got players and fans that remember losing to Tennessee. Losing that game did not break them psychologically. They still believed in themselves and their coach and had past success to fall back on.

For Florida, on the other hand, they are coming off a 4-8 season where they still beat Tennessee. They will have already been curb stomped by Alabama. They will play a team they have beaten 9 years in a row after a bye. To that team and to a lot of fans, Tennessee is Kentucky. They lose that game and the season is over for everyone psychologically. They will lose belief in themselves and belief in the staff. And the howling from fans would be epic.

It's a different dynamic entirely.

In addition, the Florida schedule in 2014 is tougher than Carolina's in 2013. I think all Carolina had left in 2013 of teams that were any good were Missouri and Clemson after playing Tennessee.

Florida would have lsu, Carolina, Georgia, Missouri and FSU left.

Baby step 1...getting a good recruitnig class, check.

Baby step 2..Getting back to a bowl ame.

Baby step 3..Winning that bowl game.

Along the way getting 2 Wins against FloriDUH, USCe or UGa would make for a very positive step in the right direction and some good momentum in recruiting.

At one time I think it was the Hall of Fame bowl

Hall of Fame Bowl was the Outback Bowl's original name.

The bowl they were talking about went by the following names:

Birmingham Bowl
PapaJohns.com Bowl
BBVA Compass Bowl

And if those 2 teams played 10 times SC wins at least 7 of them. UT did play well, but you can't deny those other things coming into play.

In 1998, Arkansas was kicking UT all over the field for most of the game. Are you going to deny that there wasn't some luck involved in that game? Those things happen, sometimes for the good sometimes for the bad.

Mike Slive, please dear God swap the Birmingham Bowl for the Bahamas Bowl.

Not like Nassau and the stadium is a mecca to play football but I'd sure as hell would rather spend new years eve in The Bahamas than God's Toilet aka Birmingham, Al.

Saw in Winston Salem paper that Hanes, maker of Leggs, and Richard Pryor are teaming up for a new bowl/golf tournament this year - the Pryor Leggs Open Bowl

The event will be held next year in Fairbanks AK. All participants will be housed at Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn (real place).

Birmingham absolutely sucks, and that game absolutely sucks. But the Bahamas Bowl is played in a stadium that only fits 30,000 people after temporary seating is brought in. That's why its conference partners are the MAC, AAC, and C-USA. Legion Field, for all its crapiness, still fits almost 72,000.

And if you were hoping to spend New Year's Eve in the Bahamas, you'd be 8 days late for the bowl game.

Ok, its played on Christmas eve. Not a horrible way to spend CE. Could stick around to NYE anyway.

So what Legion has 72k versus the 17k+temp seating making it 30k? Its.......The Bahamas. Better than that dump of a city called Birmingham. With avg temps of 79/63.9 versus B-ham's 56/35, I dont give a crap if they set out folding chairs to see the Vols play. Being in shorts with a cool beverage in winter on the last week of the year beats the f*** out of freezing in Legion field fearing for your life when you leave the stadium.

Just out of curiousity, have you ever been to Nassau? And I don't mean Paradise Island or the cruise ship ports. The area around Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre is third world. It's actually a worse area than Legion Field, in that you can't just drive out of it.

Agreed. The defense completely threw Shaw off his game. That game gives me at least a little faith in Jancek, much like the second half of the UGA game gives me faith in Bajakian.

Are you really trying to defend Birmingham over The Bahamas? You have nothing better to do than try to argue Birmingham over The Bahamas. Sad.

Even if they are both crack-ho cities, one word: weather. You lose.

I imagine Port-Au-Prince has better weather in December/January than Birmingham. But, I'd rather go to a football game in Birmingham.
