A guy I worked with when I lived in Millington, TN found out that I collected cards back in the early 90s.
He brought this card to me. His daughter got this autograph at a Spotbilt promotion in Memphis. It has a thumb tack hole where it was pinned to a cork board.

Why

Most folks seem to believe that cards sent in to be graded are usually returned as being "Altered" as it's thought that the screw downs compresses/flattens the cards.

It's why you really can't find screwdowns like that anymore and magnetic one-touch cases are used.

All mine have recessed pockets. Except for the big one with O.J. I don’t think that one would grade anyway.

Went down the rabbit hole on screw downs. They also say that the plastics also leach chemicals since they are petroleum based and cause the cards to stick. But that is true with penny sleeves, top loaders, sleeve pages, etc. Glass is the only inert material that is safe. It appears that you can't win with any of them.

That’s amazing.
