I've been asking around and getting no answers. Does anyone have a guess how we got such a specific number for attendance without tickets or gate counters?

It's all a guess. The school knows the number og seats in each section and estimates how full each one is.

like that's cool, but just guess a round number, that's all. Don't report a specific random number like you actually know. Say 61k. Don't say 61,302 or whatever it was.

The schools distribute tickets for suites and club areas, so I bet that number comes from tacking those tickets onto the GA estimates.

Man, what is up with Florida? Only 10,000 showed up? Lowest in the SEC.

This picture from Saturday at Auburn is absolutely insane.

Wasn't it their last time to roll Toomer's Trees before they pull them up? I mean if our torchbearer or rock or zeus was going away I'd be there even if I didn't like football but if it was something like Toomer's given what happened I'd be there with freaking bells on.

Gotta give em props on that. I've always had a soft spot for Auburn since we don't play them every year and we mutually despise Alabama.

don't. they can be just as bad as bammers. i got called a bammer today after asking a barner coworker if he hugged his tree for the last time this past weekend.

I like the part in the OP where it said, "Team Claimed Attendance".

If the game was free how do they know? The lower bowl at UT holds somewhere between 55-60K and every seat wasn't occupied. There were a few scattered in the upper level and boxes.

People caring about the Spring game attendance is relatively new. After UT won the NC in '98, there were less than 20K at the '99 Orange & White game.

I guessed at least 55K. There were some empty seats here and there in the lower bowl and a spattering of people in the upper level but the concourse was packed. Several thousand there as well. :salute:

My only guess is the number of handouts. They were handing out some kind of coupons at the gate. I got nothing else except for a guess.

I'm trying to figure out how they tracked our spring game. It's not like there were ticket sales or anything to count the number of people that went into the stadium. I just walked right in. Unless they had someone counting every person that went in or something. The entire lower bowl was filled though, and that was impressive. I'm very proud of the people who were able to make it to the game.

do the turnstiles keep track? so do, so don't.

I'm just glad that Nebraska had their spring game first so we could put our attendance slightly ahead. :)
