 You make it sound like we signed 3 donkeys and some middle school cheerleaders.

The only 2 impact players from that class IMO are the OL out of Chattanooga and the JC transfer DE. Both had committed to UT 2 years ago.

The OL as a junior in high school at Chattanooga, and the DE didn't qualify and had to go the JC route. IMO the recruiting class is worse then it appears on papers, because in reality both of those players had verbally committed to UT 2 years ago, although its true that had no obligation to honor the verbal committment.

"Right On" (remember I was in college in the 60's). :peace:

Amazing how so many can tell how much of a bust last year's class is going to be.

Say, who here has coached college football before?

If you want to know how good this class is, go to www.rivalscom and look it up. They rank every class. This is the worst ranked class Fulmer has had.

All hail the 'Almighty All-knowing Never wrong about a prospect' Gods of Recruiting!!! I pray to the Rivals Gods every day for guidance. Don't be one of "those" people. Rivals is wrong....A LOT! Class rankings mean zippola. And don't degrade these kids coming in like that. Saying they are no good and will never have an impact? What a joke you are. I seem to remember a certain UGA DE that killed UTK during his career. I don't guess the fact that Rivals gave him a meager 2-stars stopped him from becoming an NFL DE.

Rivals ranks the class at the moment they sign. They don't rank the class as to who WILL or WILL NOT do good.

So again I ask, who here has coached college football?

We have Joe Blow and Cry Baby Tom spouting off about how we just have several impact players when most if not all have not even seen the field yet.

Utterly amazing we have so many D1 coaches on here!

As usual this thread has gone a little far afield. Once a player is offered to come to UT and accepts they are a Vol and we should support them. It pisses me off tremendoulsy when the Fulmerites talk about CPF's recruiting prowess even though Richt and Meyer recruited his pants off last year and it looks like Spurrier might be piling on already. However, that is not an excuse to say that 20+ kids who signed with UT are not going to make a difference. I can guarantee that some of those kids will wind up being great college players and a few of them will probably wind up in the NFL.

You attribute people bringing up Fulmer's recruiting prowess to the "Fulmerites". But I've noticed that a lot of the time the people who bring up Fulmer's recruiting ability are the one's who don't think he's all that good a coach and want to downplay the success he has had and chalk it up to the superior talent he is able to bring in.

When I said that, I was looking at it from the point of view of, this is Fulmer's worst recruiting class ever and Fulmer has been the coach for 14 seasons.

So that encompasses two decades, this decade and last. Majors had his best recruiting classes the last 5 or so years he was head coach. So I think its a fair statement. :matrix:

That's not two decades. It's a decade and 4 years. Nice try though.

Come on guys, it is just 1 committment

The world won't stop.

Fulmer will get several top guys

Did anyone else notice that Ole Miss already has 11 commitments for 2007, including two kids who are on the Rivals Top 100 Jr. list.

Ole Miss could already have 30 committments and 3 from the top 100 jr. list and it would mean_____?

Commits haven't meant a lot the last couple of years though.

I can name one coach that that statment certainly applies to. Unfortunately there are guys named Richt, Tubberville and Spurrier who have a pretty well proven track record of getting the most out of their talent. maybe we just need to see if the magic dust is off back order. :dunno:

This is sort of off topic, but what is it with people putting Tuberville on a pedestal? He's done well lately, but he's got exactly one year in his entire career where he's won more than 9 games.

He did pretty well at Ole Miss with some not so great rosters. I'm not a Tuberian or anything but he's done okay and AU is definitely up from where they were.

And they have 1 NC between the 3 of them. Do they need more talent?

Just goes to show how much mileage a good season can get you.

I'm sure there will comments to follow about Fulmer and his mileage..
