This is sort of off topic, but what is it with people putting Tuberville on a pedestal? He's done well lately, but he's got exactly one year in his entire career where he's won more than 9 games.

Well one reason is, he's won 3 out of the last 4 against Fulmer.

The other reason is, he took Auburn from finishing last to first with a perfect undefeated season.

Granted he nearly got fired in the process. That near coaching death was enough motivation for him to clean house and bring in new coaches and new ideas and now the Auburn program is solid.
You guys who are against criticizing Fulmer, might want to consider the postive impact criticism has had on coaches to make needed changes. Almost everyone is pleased with the offensive coordinator change from Sanders to Cutcliffe, but does anyone think that would have happened without any criticism of Fulmer?

Come on guys, it is just 1 committment

The world won't stop.

Fulmer will get several top guys

I find it interesting that most of the Florida gator fans and Georgia bulldogs fans who come on this board are very pro-Fulmer. :ermm:

I also remember being very pro-Zook and pro-Donnan at one time.

NO. I do not. but being pleased now, and seeing positive results are two different things.....criticizing Fulmer is fine with me...he's a big boy...my only problem with what i see on this board when we start on Fulmer is the utter lack of concession on any point at any given time....no one ever sees thru the "crap"(personal jabs at fellow posters or CPF, etc....)and gets the actual point of the discussion.....and i'm as guilty as the next guy....we all are too quick to pull records or rankings or other stats and bombard each other with our views trying pound each other in to submission with our way of thinking.....when at the end of they day, neither YOU or I, or most anyone else with independent thought processes, is going to read a post on this board and suddenly go, you know what, he's/she's right, i must have been stupid for thinking the way i do.....rather, i wish we could just put the opinions out there, and discuss what everone thinks.... :twocents:

you have never read anything on this board, that ended up changing your opinion about something? No offense, but thats really more of a sad commentary on you then anything else.

I would say half the stats and opinions I have, are based on what I had read from others posters, commentators, or articles I have read, many of them posted in this room. I am always refining my opinion, based on criticism or new information I have read. I thought everyone did this.

It amazes me that anyone would say they have never changed an opinion based on information others have posted. If I really believed that, I wouldn't even read this board. What would be the point?

well there you go....again, missing the entire point of the post....are you really that short sided okla? do i have to spell everything out in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS SO YOU WILL UNDERSTAND?

btw, it's been my experience when people preface a statement with "no offense", it usually means an offense is coming.

For the edification of others, cause i fail to see any chance of you ever understanding what i'm trying to get acorss to you, i am specifically talking about the on going debate (if you can even call it that at this point) regarding CPF.

If those two things are all you got out of my original post, well, the post fell on blind eyes, deaf ears, or whatever anolgy you like, because you missed the point all together, as usual, so i wont' bother re explaining it now.

have a nice day. :banghead:

How do you write this and then later deny that your saying that other people's post do not ever change your opinion?

If you can't read other people's post and not find anything that has ever changed your mind or your opinion, then you got a lot bigger problems then your difference of opinion with me.

Trying to reframe your argument by denying that was what you meant isn't making you look any better either.

i stand by the original post....and the fact that you still refuse to UNDERSTAND the basic principal point of it tells me that i was right on in my assessement. further, posts such as this are affirmation of that point.

this is why discussions on the topic never get anywhere or are worth the effort....you still fail to see the point.

Good day.

no, i feel fine either way....my tone and facial expressions have disappointment that OKla can't or won't get the point i'm making. I think you and GaVol got it, as i'm sure others would too....but unfortunatley some can't get past the "crap" as i pointed out.

trust me i'm not losin' any sleep.......

Just wanted to add some rebuttal to those who think S.C. recruiting is not important to UT.

http://rivals100.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=532000

If you dont want to read the whole thing, here is a quote from JC Shurburtt's article:

"Every one of today's football prospects grew up pulling for a team. Richardson grew up pulling for the University of Tennessee. When UT won its national championship in 1998, Richardson was 9 or 10-years old. He undoubtedly is aware of the Vols' tradition of taking South Carolina's best prospects. From Shaun Ellis, Albert Haynesworth and Domminique Stevenson to most recently Tony McDaniel, Eric Young and Robert Ayers, Tennessee has been able to recruit the Palmetto State with a great deal of success.

When Richardson visited Knoxville, he came away impressed with the facilities and the stadium and mentioned in several different interviews about the Vols being his childhood favorite.

UT assistants Dan Brooks and John Chavis both have deep ties to the state and know how to get South Carolina prospects to Rocky Top. Just last week, head coach Phillip Fulmer was praising the talent base in the Palmetto State while speaking at the Anderson (S.C.) Touchdown Club. There also are quite a few Volunteer fans that live in South Carolina.

Simply put, UT has deep ties to South Carolina and it would not be one bit surprising to see it emerge here. As recently as Signing Day eve, 2002, it looked like a Tigers-Gamecocks battle for Union (S.C.) offensive lineman Eric Young. Several recruiting networks projected him to join the Gamecocks late that evening.

Young signed with Tennessee."

i don't disagree that SC is an important recruiting area for us. but it will get more and more difficult if USC and Clemson get better.

SC is one of the more underrated areas for talent in the SE.

But i still like our chances in that state. we have a proven record with SC kids and coaches. It won't dry up on us.

If SOS beats us again this season, look for the SC to UT talent valve to be shut down to a drip.

It's always been hard for me to believe that we've been able to get as many out of SC as we have. You'd think that between SC and Clemson they'd be able to keep kids in state.

Neither one have been very good, and top notch talent in most cases wants the best chance to play for championship contenders and on TV....neither of which were on the radar at USC or Clemson in the past...and not that it is now, but SOS being in Columbia will net him his share of that in state talent.

but i still don't see the state drying up on us.

Sometimes the grass is just greener at FSU, UT, UGA, etc. The state of South Carolina has more natives in the Super Bowl on an annual basis than you would believe. This little ole state has plenty of football talent, and when a player is as good as they are, sometimes they want to go and compete for championships. Let's just be honest, outside of Clemson buying one 25 years ago, it just hasn't happened here.

Quintin Richardson (4-5 Star DL, Columbia, SC) visited UT and will be making an announcement today as for his commitment. I think these kids are getting more serious about it, especially with the number graduating in December and enrolling in time to make spring practice. He is supposed to announce for Carolina, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Rocky Top may get him.

WCGC, this thread kind of got revived becasue Raivals has a front page story about Q.R. announcing at 6:30 and it beeing between SC, Clemson, and UT. Seems the conventional wisdom is that early announcements tend to stay close to home. I know it held up for us yesterday with Todd Campbell who was offered by SC amoung others, and recruited by Spurrier, Jr. I'm keeping my :cross: on Q.R. for now but I know we can't get 'em all.

It's a good feeling to see some good players staying in-state. I know you don't want to hear this, but if a player decides not to play at Carolina, I'd rather them go to Clemson than an SEC Eastern opponent. We'll have to see them for four years anyway, I'd just as soon see them stay here. Don't you worry VHb, you'll be reeling in another top class as always. You make a great point about Campbell, and yes, we were after him.

Richardson was at the G&B game today waving to the crowd and soaking up all the applause. I turned to a friend and said, "As much attention as this kid commands, I sure hope he's good!"

Believe me, we've had our share of 4-Star Busts in Columbia.
