He'll take the job next year or he'll be so guilt-ridden the rest of his life he'd be worthless wherever he worked. If you think Kiffin gets in his head, if he has any Catholic faith left in his body, he can't walk away when they come calling a second time.
Moreover, he's got great career smarts. He knew that he was inheriting a talent-rich Florida team that Zook recruited and could claim a national title with just a little work. Charlie Weis has been doing Zook-like work at Notre Dame for him, and Meyer knows that. He'll show up just in time to take the Glory (yes, that's a capital G when we're talking about ND winning championships).
He's also building himself quite a little hotbed to contend with in the SEC. Saban will have his number soon. Kiffin a few years thereafter and the beatdown and chest pounding he does this year will live in our memories forever.
UF is not as great long term as the ride has been thus far. His timing was ideal, but that will change. Miami and FSU will rebound. If you don't think he's worried about Kiffin, look at how up in arms the Gators are in defending a deadbeat Principal who thinks he can deny college scholarships as a means of salvaging a part of the Gator pipeline. And look how sensitive they are about the players we keep taking out of their state, and they should be.
Finally, Meyer doesn't seem to have the type of personality that grows on people. If you watch him enough, doesn't he just start to annoy you? He's the most pompous whiner in all of sports. Players can deal with whining and panicking for a while, but how many posters of a new coach of a 5-7 team can you put up before players start wondering what's wrong with their coach?
As for recruiting at Notre Dame, that's got to be the easiest part of the job. The overwhelming majority of Catholic kids in the country grow up dreaming to play for the Irish. Like Meyer, they feel guilty if they turn down the opportunity.
If the Domers knock, Meyer will answer the call this time. He simply can't say 'no' to eternal life... twice.

Former Ute Coach Urban Meyer -- The Litany of Lies, Cons, and Fakery
Former Ute Coach Urban Meyer -- The Litany of Lies, Cons, and Fakery
There is no offseason when it comes to Steve Spurriers ability to stir things up.
Without prompting, the Head Ball Coach this week brought up rumors about Florida coach Urban Meyer bolting for Notre Dame.
In a long interview on the Paul Finebaum Radio Network, Spurrier called Meyer one of the nations top coaches, then digressed.
Theyve still got that rumor going down there, Paul, that if he has about one more big year he might be the Notre Dame coach, Spurrier said. I know youve heard that rumor.
Finebaum chimed in that people at Notre Dame firmly believe Meyer will jump to South Bend next year.
Meyer grew up in Ohio and has repeatedly referred to Notre Dame as his dream job. But he chose Florida over the Irish in 2004.
Itd be surprising if he left, but who knows? said Spurrier, the former Gators coach now heading South Carolina. Hes accomplished so much. I mean, I left after 12 years because I just said, Hey, Ive done enough. Try something else. He may get to the point where he needs to try something else. Who knows?
Confirming that he was speaking off the cuff, Spurrer added: Maybe it was his dream job and not anymore. I dont know.
