Squirrel White Retires from NFL

Yeah the NFL has this strange requirement to actually catch the ball on your feet and keep running with it. Odd concept to him I guess.
Maybe if he hadn’t played with two Vol quarterbacks infamous for overthrows. A lot of those squirrel „falls“ came after having to stretch forward two to three yards while running full speed try to catch up to the ball for an acrobatic catch. I don’t remember his having many chances to catch a ball in stride.

I am sad that he didn’t stay and have the chance to run some routes for Joey.

Best of luck to the young man. The squirrel „waddle“ after a TD catch will always be one of my favorite Vol memories.

I am assuming that your $100k figure was his annual NIL and not a cumulative over his 3 years by the river?

Like I said, I'm not gonna jump on Squirrel. Also not gonna come here and tell you folks I was the most mature individual at 22-23.

Life has a way of making you figure it out though. I would imagine there is an avenue for Squirrel to come back and complete his degree at UT if he so chooses either pretty cheaply for for free considering the whole picture.

I wish him well-as I do "most" who have donned the orange and white. As long as he lives a decent life and takes care of his kid, good job Squirrel

Now a story pops up in 15 years or so and Squirrels kid is a highly rated recruit and apparently Squirrel has not been in the pic for a long time. Yeah, then I am gonna criticize
Always a squirrel trying to get a nut!

Everyone's not a winner. Like the 40-year-old dudes kicking a 22-year-old kid while he's maybe having the worst time of his life.

Sorry, I just have no tolerance for this. It's bad for the program and to the benefit of no one (except our rivals).
Wish I could remember my 40s. Good days ..I think?

Yea guess you are right. Just got on my nerves how he would literally jump in the air and fall down every time he caught a pass. He has caught more passes for UT than I have so guess I’ll keep my mouth shut.
According to highlight reel above, he had far more catch and runs than catch and falls. Seems to me alot of his catch and falls in those clips are situational positioning to even catch the pass in the first place.

I always liked squirrel and thought he made some game-changing plays. But he's just too small. He's not frail, but at his size, he just can't absorb the punishment. He had that problem at Tennessee. Always minor injuries. Always injured from hits. I'm sure the NFL was 10 times worse.

Jeez man..... No need for you guys to keep on beating on a man when he's down lol.

Poor Squirrel. I always liked the guy when he was here. Just a pity he could not actually stay upright after catching the ball though.

IIRC, Squirrel had a fairly young child didn't he-part of the reason he had to seek "greener" pastures at FSU?

I wish him luck in whatever comes next in life for him.
0 YAC.

I wish him a world of success. But man, he never caught the ball on two feet.

On May 8th, 2026, Miami Dolphins signed undrafted free agent Le’Veon Moss to a 3-year contract. But just four days after doing so, he has chosen to retire from the NFL.

The team announced that they were placing Moss on the reserve/retired list, meaning Moss has chosen to end his NFL career (at least, for now).

Yup

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter anymore though. Squirrel has hung up the cleats

Now all Squirrel has to worry about is keeping himself upright when his kids need him.

The man goes to work and raises his family, I'm willing to forgive Squirrels lack of umm-well, balance after catching the ball.

The game Squirrel is playing now is far more important anyway.

An old Kelly Washington clip came across my Facebook page yesterday and he did almost the exact same thing!

Canton has a gold jacket waiting for him

....let's listen in

ol' squirrel just might have a nut up his sleeve,, ,,, maybe a coaching position or something, he's got a 2 year old son that's gotta eat.

Here's the kicker, he left UT without a degree, then got to FSU where he still didn't graduate with a degree.

he did however get a little north of 100,000 dollars from Tennessee and 140,000 from FSU in NIL money, so there's that.

How long until we see a GoFundMe account for him.

again, let's listen in...
I completely understand why some players ignore fans and refuse to sign autographs. The young man retired from the most competitive and physical sport out there, and you try cracking jokes about him possibly going broke and needing a gofundme? how is a man with a baby to feed going broke funny? He's been undersized his entire career and gave it his all. I dont blame him for going after every dollar he can.

Some of yall need to grow up

Yes that’s right. I do remember that and haven’t thought of that name in a long time. I remember when he made Freshman All American. Remember when he lit up LSU that year with something like 250 yards receiving in single game.
