Haha Arlington finally got a decent pass play (on a LB) and the very next play, got intercepted by Keion Payne.

Once again a team from Ohio getting beat by a team from the South. At least when the kids get to Ohio State they will already know how it feels.

Upper Arlington is a middle of the pack Ohio high school football team this year. This is an inaccurate statement as a whole high school wise.

I don't keep up with Ohio football, so I didn't know that. I was just trying to make a joke at Ohio's expense. You would think the organizer's of this event would put St. Thomas Aquinas against a team that would be better matched up against them.

Understandable. They should have lined up preferably against Elder or Glenville, home of Mike Edwards.

Elder is #4 in country so be good to watch. Glenville plays archrival and defending champ Ignatius today. Not sure why Arlington is playing still, tho.

STA plays #2 Byrnes (SC) in the first part of October that should be a good game. Byrnes plays today at 5pm on CSS if anyone would like to see Lattimore.

STA = bad a$$..Very impressive game. That MLB (#14 I think) was all over the place.

Elder is a good team. Cincinnati has been producing some talent...what is it with those west-side teams?
That entire conference has been solid for a few years now. St. Xavier is usually top 20 ranked, Colerain, Elder, Lakota West where that Hicks LB is from this year, Moeller QB kid who chose ND over us all teams play disciplined team football but they dont have the athletes that Florida, Cali, Texas has. Last year 4 teams in the conference were preseason top 100 on Rivals.

In the last eight seasons, Upper Arlington has missed the playoffs three times and hasn't made it past the second round.

And in D-1 (which is what UA is), it's pretty much an annual rite of passage for the Region 3 winner (Columbus area) to get destroyed by the Region 4 (Cincinnati area) winner. Since the playoffs began in 1972, I believe the Columbus team has won exactly three times.

With anything resembling an even head-to-head matchup, I'll take an Ohio team against anyone else in the country.

You can't be serious? The Florida HS teams are just out there. What about a head to head matchup with Byrnes? Glenville maybe the only Ohio team that would have a chance from an athletic standpoint.

come on man, if u take an ohio team against anybody in the country you would lose alot of games, for real.

In the time span of the Herbstreit Classic of 2005-08, here's the overall breakdown.

Ohio teams -- 13 wins
USA teams -- 20 wins

Ohio teams (out of 33 squads)
231-96 regular season record (.706)
15 finished .600 or worse on season
11 teams missed playoffs
7 lost in first round
7 lost in second round
5 lost in third round
none lost in state semifinals (fourth round)
2 lost in state championship
2 won state championship

USA teams (out of 33 squads)
257-55-1 regular season record (.823)
3 finished .600 or worse on season

I'm still compiling playoff information, but I know that there are at least three state champions and a state runner-up in this group. That's out of the six teams I have info for.

Going into the 2006 matchup with Moeller, Byrnes had done the following.

Gone 57-2 over the previous four seasons
Hadn't lost in two years
Was ranked #2 in the country by USA Today
Had just defeated the #5 team in the country handily

Byrnes won 21-20. Moeller went 5-4 and lost in the first round of the playoffs after barely sneaking in.

Do you think the score would be that close this year?
