‘Star Wars Rebels’ Renewed For Season 3

Disney XD has renewed Star Wars Rebels as expected for Season 3, with production already underway and a plan to air new episodes of the Lucasfilm-produced animated series in 2016.

The series, which follows a ragtag group of heroes that dare to strike back against Imperial forces, is an original tale based on the Star Wars pics that in its first two seasons has incorporated classic characters from the movies while introducing new heroes and villains.

Coincidentally, the rebooted feature film franchise Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18. The renewal news was announced this morning on Star Wars mothership StarWars.com.

“We’re very proud of our incredibly creative Rebels team,” Lucasfilm SVP Development Kiri Hart said in the announcement. “The show continues to tell fun, heartfelt, exciting new Star Wars stories week after week, and it’s beloved by fans of all ages. Season 3 will see our rebel heroes face new obstacles and find new allies in their fight against the Empire.”

Star Wars Rebels ranks as Disney XD’s No. 2 series in total viewers (1.3 million), kids 6-11, boys 6-11 and boys 2-11, and is the channel’s No. 1 program in adults 18-49 and men 18-49.

Star Wars Rebels is created by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Simon Kinberg and Carrie Beck; Filoni and Kinberg executive produce. The Season 2 voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray, Ashley Eckstein, Dee Bradley Baker, David Oyelowo and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I've been watching. Not as good as Clone Wars but still pretty good. I can't wait for Vader to come face to face with Asokah and Rex. That storyline is more intriguing to me than the main cast quite honestly.

You're correct. Looks like it was for sound mixing. It would've been years ago that I read about it being nominated, so it just got muddled on what it was for. However it was for Time Force, so at least I didn't misremember too hard

Here's an interesting question for all of us Star Wars nerds. Of the newcomers, which character will have the biggest impact? I say Kylo Ren. I think he will become an icon.

So far I like what I've seen from the character but his merchandise isn't as eye catching as Vader's.

Of course I'm an old fart that is partial to the originals.

Kylo. Finn is well...to be brutally honest...black. There's still a contingent of people butthurt over a black stormtrooper for some stupid reason. Rey will not be likeable enough after the first movie. And she's a chick, to be brutally honest again. After all three movies, I'd say Phasma will develop a cult following, kinda like Boba Fett but smaller.

But yeah Kylo. Driver is the best actor of the bunch. Possibly Snoke after all three movies.

I'd say Kylo but it depends on what his story arc is. I have a feeling..
Rey meets Luke at the end to begin her Jedi training..and when us nerds are exposed to the badassery that Luke Skywalker should possess we are gonna have to be fans of Rey

Kylo already has more personality than Darth Maul or Count Dooku so that is a plus.

I don't believe that he is force sensitive. I think that he will be carelessly wielding it against Kylo to defend himself.

That seems to be what's going on. They reeeeally want you to THINK Finn is the one who wields the lightsaber.

There was a Duracel commercial that showed a girl dressed like Rey using the Force. Not sure if that was just artistic license or a spoiler.

As much as I love Star Wars I wish this movie would hurry up and come out because eventhough I havent seen it, I'm already sick of it after all the merchandise, promos, trailers, TV spots, etc.
