State of recruiting this year IMO?

Personally I am tired of chasing the stars and following all these prima donas and want to see some home grown talent shine.

Plenty of good young players in TN and GA we don't need to go across the country to grab guys who won't pour their heart into the T.

Also, the difference between 3 and 4 stars is negligible at the end of the day.

You take a roster of 3*'s who love Tennessee, and I'll take some 5*'s who only see The University of Tenacious D as little more than a segue to the pros and watch what happens. My band director would need Tommy John surgery at halftime. That's what'd happen.

Spelling doesn't count the money in your pocket or your bank account. For those of you who rely on spelling in your career I understand the value you place on spelling. For those of us who rely on other skills for a career it is less important to us. Just sayin'

I agree. Effective communication is overrated, said the man posting on a message board (it requires "words".....get it?).

Uh, Joevols crushed a 16 on his ACT and threw some Ryan Express style heat for Vandy. Mofo don't need no communication.

Yea all that water makes you delirious and hampers your ability to spell.

Makes who delirious? I don't touch the stuff. Joe, on the other hand, throws hard, plays hard, walks hard, studies hard, slays the chicks and drinks his natties.

Whoa. That's saying something'. Anybody that can mow a row of natties is a monster.

Sitting through 4 hours of testing the following morning without rushing to bathroom is a greater accomplishment IMO IMO.

Your logic simply fails. Through 2009, Tennessee is ranked 9th in wins all time with 783. I would say that is fairly revelant.

We were a great program when only white kids could play and our schedule featured 1 ranked opponent a year. We no longer play the equivalent of a WAC schedule and SEC football is integrated. By your logic, Army and Yale are "just around the corner" from being top-20 teams again.

This logic simply fails -- just "being UT" doesn't mean there is some law of physics that says "we will be back" in 2 or 5 years. In fact, our modern history of integrated SEC football pre-Fulmer's major role in the program (pre-1989) was that we would be an unranked team 90% of the time, on the margins of national relevance -- basically, where Kentucky football has been under Mumme, Brooks & now Joker.

It means that failing isn't an option. After firing Fulmer for his record, to save face the administration can't tolerate anything less. They've painted themselves into a corner. If Hamilton and Dooley can't make this work, then we'll be getting a new coach and next time I have a feeling $ won't be an issue. By that time Fulmer's contract buy out will be finished and we won't be pinching pennies. I'm also hopeful, if it gets to that point, Mike Hamilton will be gone as well.

Can't tolerate anything less than what? A decade without a conference championship? I should hope not.

You'll get no arguments from me. Some of us simply are doing the best we can.

Hey, I see you've got your sarcasim swagger back, and I'm digging the new material. I'm trying to do better with my spelling I promise.

Exactly. We have set a standard at UT so our record pre 1980 isn't relevant anymore. UT's administration is dedicated to fielding a winning football team consistently. If Dooley can't get it done, then they'll bring someone else in until they find the right guy.

Punctuation should be next.

You went to Vandy?!

What's the background on jump-starting your car?

The ACT is as genuinely indicative of a person's intelligence as the "size doesn't matter" comments which Rex's wife offers.

Ha-I have no idea with the jump starting my car thing. And texting my kids has kind of ruined my punctuation. :mf_surrender: I don't proof read posts on a message board. I really don't lose any sleep over what someone on here thinks of my intelligence. I do enjoy conversing with everyone and welcome their comments. It's fun for everyone. I've come to realize without people like BigPapa and Jaytrain this forum would boring to say the least, and there would most definitely be more BS posted on here than there currently is IMO.

Try harder. Or, admit failure and apply for the parking tag.

I see you do stand up. I also see it's 9:47pm and since you're on here instead of at the comedy club, you're not very good at it. Handicap jokes are always in poor taste.

On the subject of the original OP

I think we can build very well with solid recruiting 3* and a few 4*.....but we must have a game changer or two in there somewhere (ie lattimore at USC) we need to recruit a few big time recruits if we are going to play with the Big boys, if not we are going to remain on the par with Vandy and Ky....
