Because he wanted to leave the door open to coach highschool football is what he said. He is done in the NCAA

What he did was quit on a Bad Team in the Middle of the Season. He Quit. He walked out on his players, assistants and a University. He Quit.
He is a media darling. That gave him a pass.
Can you imagine if Sabin had done the same thing. The media would have hung him.
Unless the Ol'Ball Coach has some yet to be told illness, he is a QUITTER and this should be a blight on his career.
