Steven Pearl is calling you out!

I really hate to continue on in the facebook convo but.....

I have a lot of friends overseas and its a great way to keep in touch with them and see the pictures they took THAT DAY. When I had friends in the military it was a great way to keep in touch with them. Its an easy way to keep up with family and friends without having to spend hours on the phone, and I hate talking on the phone. Facebook joins people together, and keeps them in touch. Its as simple as that. It obviously works, or this thread would not exist and we would have one less thing to talk about during the duldrums of the offseason. :)

I use Facebook to keep in touch with my friends in HS that didn't go to the same school as me. Also, in college it's a way you find out about parties.

If that's the only way you find out about parties then something is wrong.

Honestly, there's something ironic about people calling facebook pathetic on a message board.

I've found that there's much more of a stigma attached to message boards than facebook

Not defensive at all.

Posting on a message board is different to me. I have no problem with facebook. I don't use it. However, like I said earlier most people I know have 1000 friends and maybe talk to 5 of them and stalk the rest...no big...

Isn't that the kind of thing that got this thread going? Someone on FB calling us out for posting on a MB?

I will say this....blogs are a much better way (as of right now) to market whatever you may have to sell/ push/ whatever. Look at Clay Travis, every day he is pumping out new material on his blog and when his new book hits all these daily readers will be reminded he has a book coming out. He also has his older books listed.

Saying social media is the future and one and all being of the future of marketing is about as dumb as saying that they have no use in marketing. It's all a mix, baby. Use it all, track how people are finding out about you and go hard on what gets them there. If using word of mouth because you're damn good, so be it. If you have to do the social media thing a little more, so be it.
