Still can finish 2nd

There is no way we can win out and not get a first round bye. Thus, I would rather us just take care of business and take our bye. With the inconsistency this team has shown on the road, a first round bye is exactly what we need.

Actually there is, but it's not the most likely scenario

*Vols win out
*Florida loses to Vandy, beats Kentucky
*Bama wins out

Florida 11-5
Vols 10-6
Vandy 10-6
Bama 10-6

record amongst tied teams:

Vandy 2-1
Bama 1-1
Vols 1-2

Tennessee is the #5 seed, Bama #4, Vandy #3, Florida #2.

Sold. I now have a scenario to obsess over.

ut finishes five, Bama finishes four. ut beats USC in the first tourney game, and Bama after a bye wins again in the rematch. Season over for ut.

Bookmark this page. This IS the way it will happen.

This is great, except for the fact that Florida couldn't beat Kentucky's practice squad.

I agree. Also, did anyone catch the score of the LSU-Ole Miss game? Wow. If they can do it, we can do it, although we will be playing at LSU.

Alls I'm saying is that it's still a mathematical possibility.

The chances of us winning out and getting a 2 seed are about a billion times higher than the chances of us winning out and getting a 5 seed.

Tuesday through Thursday will be huge games for Tennessee. It'd be nice to have auburn stun bama, also would be good to have vandy beat Florida.

This is why I love this time of year, games you usually wouldn't care about, you're glued to.

I'll have to say no matter how it all plays out Martin has impressed me as a coach with what he has done this year with these guys. Definitely looking forward to next year.

Thats why I love the fact that it's all one division in basketball now. In years past, I wouldn't have cared to watch a Ole Miss-LSU basketball game. Or even Alabama-Miss. St. for that matter.

I'm very happy they switched. It'll most likely be atleast 3 or 4 former east teams that get byes. It was so aggravating to see 2 west teams get the byes when they would have been 6th or 7th.

I can't wait to see what he can achieve with a good-great recruiting class under his belt.

FWIW...

the sec has now moved ahead of the BIG12 as the #3 conference this year in CBB. whether or not this has an immediate impact is debatable, but i think if tennessee can make a strong case we can see the SEC get 6 teams in, they should get no less than 5 though IMO.

at this point it looks good for:
uk
florida
vandy
bama

we would beneift from Miss St. continuing to lose greatly, but if we finish strong as i said, we may be able to get in as the 6th sec team. Our chances of getting in though definitely go up if miss st losses again.

Play Miss St. in the SEC tournament and beat them, problem solved
