Still waiting to be impressed by Milton!

The starter doesn’t appear ready either.
he’s on the struggle bus for sure, but at least he isn’t turning the ball over. With a good running game, if we can clean up the holding penalties on screens we may be “okay”

I’m thinking we fall behind Florida and Nico comes in. Impossible to know if he’s ready though.
Unless Joe gets hurt he is the starting QB this year . CJH likes him and wants him to succeed and he knows the system .

Nico has been practicing for almost a year under this system. Heupel will start Nico if he has to. He is not blindly loyal to quarterbacks and he’s already benched Joe once.

Heupel isn’t going to throw Nico to the wolves against Florida unless forced too.

Doesn’t matter how talented he is, he’s still a true freshman.

Benching Milton isn’t going to magically turn us into a National Title Contender.

Here’s the thing. If we’re going to roll with Joe take the kid gloves off and live or die by what happens. We aren’t going to win games throwing quick hitches to compensate for joes extreme inaccuracy. I mean if the coaches are all in on him they need to start acting like it or make a change now.

I will never understand the deal with Milton. He’s not good. He’s never been good. All of us are sick of constantly hearing the announcers. Talk about how far he can throw a ball. It doesn’t matter. He has no touch on the ball often throwing lasers when the receiver is wide open, and the ball needs to be thrown out in front of them with some arch, so they can run under it. Then he way overthrow/under throws the balls.

Heupel has done so much right since he got here but he’s made a massive mistake with Milton. It was a big mistake for him to start him over hooker to begin with… which became obvious, of course, when Milton went out, and Hooker came in. I really thought he would find a replacement for life after a hooker, and was surprised that milton wasn’t encouraged to look around. And now he’s obviously going to ride with Milton even though he’s terrible I guess thinking it will help Nico in his development to not play early. I don’t understand that logic. Why not get the young guy in early and often and see what he can do?

He seems to make a personal decision, and then almost be unwilling to reassess. Or give other guys an opportunity to win playing time when the guy in front of them isn’t doing well.

I would trade QBs with our last two competitors and feel more confident about our chances going forward. I will just leave this comment right here and see what happens.

I want Joe to light it up. After getting benched for Hendon, he was a model teammate. He’s the guy that you’d use as an example when you tell a youthful athlete about being a good teammate matter of fact.

Tonight was just odd. Throws were off, dropped and never seemed to get in any kind of rhythm. Against an FCS team to top it off.

That being said, if he wasn’t somehow hindered by some injury or stomach bug it was one hell of a set back from the Orange Bowl. I hope that’s what we find out bc if not, we’re gonna have a tough season. He just never seemed “with it” but I wanna root for the guy still. The wide receivers sure didn’t do him any favors

He has obviously had some excellent games, not the least of which is the orange bowl but his game performance is so inconsistent, at times terrible!
I thought the qb play tonight was abysmal. Poor reads and poor passes. If he plays like that against Fla we are in trouble.

I’m telling ya, that kid for AP can play. Solid QB. With a real O line, he could stand back there and pick some people apart.

I agree.

Milton is what we all knew. Big arm. No touch. Accuracy comes and goes. Throws high too often. Holds the ball too long at times. A decent runner but not explosive as a runner. Decision making may still be a question mark. He is average at best. He will maybe make a few “wow” plays a game with his arm strength.

Lol. We made him look better than he is. Look at his stats against SIU compared to against us.

The funny thing is nobody wants to give up on him. We all want him to be what he “looks” like he should be.
Yeah funny how when you have a true freshman and some other guys that wouldn’t start on any SEC team backing him up that you want your starting QB to be good

A starting qb that’s been replaced what?…..at least 3 times?
