Stimulus?

Would these people losing there job had a negative effect on the economy?

sure, but the counter to that isn't that saving them would be stimulative.

stimulus should have created NEW jobs. there is simply no way a "saved" job is stimulative no matter how good you feel about it.

Well I'm just guessing here but I'd say they are hoping that the economy will have picked up by the time these temp jobs expire and the great private sector employers will hire some of these people.

you are assuming they have marketable skills. if so they shouldn't need stimilus jobs to remain employed.

Well maybe it isn't the best name but chances are instead of a 7million job loss recession we could have had an 8.2 million job loss recession.

that number has been discredited by every media outlet.

So much HYPOCRISY

Or was put into a lot of projects that did little to boost aggregate demand (the real purpose of a "stimulus")

I like where you're going with this.

The question is rather: If this stimulus package was not passed, what would our current economic situation look like?

Economists have a difficult job with many variables that produce uncertainty - do you yell at the meteorologist when the forecast is wrong?

The economic situation would have been much worse with little to no government intervention.

one of them actually happened
Were they IED's shaped like flowers cause outside of one day I don't believe there was all that much celebrating but lets not forget they also gave us mission accomplished.

many of those aren't Iraqis but that's ok.

and not many people ever claimed Bush was our savior. Too many have bought in to Obama's naive promises

Is that the mainstream media you all so despise or is it some other reputible media that you just so happen to agree with.

it's the media that figured out that obama was claiming jobs saved in districts that don't exist, claiming jobs saved if a persons hours were simply cut rather than being fired, claiming jobs saved if police officers stopped getting overtime, etc etc etc

I just was pointing out politicos make mistakes occasionally.

and the current head man has done nothing but make mistakes. Heck the only bailout/stimulus that worked was done by GWB

the sad part is bush lied regurally and the libs rightfully called him on it. Obama continues this pattern tenfold and the liberals argument is "well bush did it too." i see so one bad makes a right?

Well you are entitled to your opinion just as I am and I vehemently disagree with yours.

so it's your opinion that the stimulus is working like it was sold and saving the economy? If not, which part do you disagree with?
