stock market was up today...

Who ever said I was a Democrat? I *was* a registered Republican and voted for W twice.

I simply hate Trump. He's destroying the GOP and our country. We'll look back at this time in history and shake our heads in disbelief.
It's amazing the number of posters here who think disliking Trump = Democrat, leftist, progressive. etc. I've voted for far more Republicans than Democrats in my lifetime, but as you say, Trump has destroyed the GOP. In fact, it has completely transformed over the last 20 years

fwiw...

"...the firm has what it calls a Historical Bubble Composite, which aggregates the 1929 Dow Jones Industrial Average, the price of gold in 1980, Japan’s Nikkei 225 in 1989 and the Nasdaq Composite in 2000, and a cap-weighted index of FANMAG tracks it almost perfectly. The Composite gained 33.33% annually in the five years heading into its peak; FANMAG has gained 32.91% annually during the five years ending July 10, 2020.

And it’s not just the gains that are bubblelike. Davis points out that the six stocks trade at 36 times earnings and six times sales, the latter the highest on record. “The law of diminishing returns suggests that the larger a company is, the harder it is to keep compounding high growth rates to justify these valuations,” Davis writes.

Davis is quick to point out that he is not calling a top. The six big stocks can continue hitting new highs if the rest of the market follows along. So far that hasn’t been the case. FANMAG has gained 32% in 2020, while the S&P 500 has dipped 0.2%, and the S&P 494—what’s left after Facebook, Microsoft, Netflix, Microsoft, Apple and Alphabet are removed—has lost 6.6%.

The longer the Nasdaq’s biggest stocks are climbing on their own, the more we should worry."

Trump isn't as bad as GWB. We are still dealing with the ramifications of that administration.

Tesla is bloated as hell, and will pop.

Amazon is for real. Uniquely positioned with a massive online sales presence and their Cloud services.
Perfect for the changing economy being ushered in by COVID.

Tesla is bloated as a car company. But if they are able to be the leader in home based power systems as well they may not be crazy expensive.

The GOP needed to be destroyed.

The GOP needed to be destroyed.

Well, Mr. Trump has systematically enabled this to happen. Nov. elections will be a substantial blue wave. Senate and House will go blue and, of course, the Orange Menace will get the big boot as well. Then crazy left-wing crap will ensue.

I think you will be wrong on all of your predictions but even if you’re correct the GOP needed killing as it was.

I don’t think the Senate is flipping

Power systems for a vehicle? The home?

I think if them more as a battery company than a car company. I think their upside could be integrated home power storage systems and with vehicles I think they'd be better off focusing on the propulsion system rather than stylish vehicles. They should partner with the GMs, Fords, Toyota, etc rather than competing with them.

Interesting thought. Would be similar to the Cummins model - they only build the engines, and sell them to various OEMs
