If Cuonzo can get Stokes, the rebuilding job he has in fromt of him would be shortened by at least 2 years. Inbasketball, 1 great player like Stokes can change a team with average talent (McRae, Golden, etc..) into a contender overnight.

Knowing a little about the situation and players involved its fairly common knowledge he wants out of the city....having said that talking with the family I think Jarnell really likes Arkansas HOWEVER he may fall to Memphis by default...would I like to see him in Orange?...of course but right now I think its Arkansas to beat....only question...can he run the floor...not saying he can or cant...enough to fit Mike Anderson ball at Arkansas...this one will get interesting though....

The lack of confidence in this thread is sad. There were major reasons why UT had a big lead for his services before Pearl was fired. It was not just because of Pearl and his staff. All those other factors are still in play for him at UT. He seems to be getting very comfortable with Martin and the new staff. UT is still very much in play for Stokes. Much more so than some of you think.

A lot of it was because of Pearl and his staff.

Yeah, the only reason any decent player wanted to come to TN was because of the God of Tennessee basketball, Coach Pearl.

Yeah I think at one point we were at the top with Stokes and Tony Parker. I don't know if he was a lock but I think we were in good shape with Poythress. Either way I'm fairly confident that coach Martin will land Stokes.

Nobody said that. However, if you don't think a recruit's sole reason to go to a school can be because of the coach, you are dead wrong. If you don't think its possibe that a recruit would come to school to play for bp, but not ccm, and vice versa, you are wrong again.
It's really ok to realize that, without the dramatic god and pearlophite references.

Pearl was a part of the reason. Coaches are always a big part of the reason. But there were actually a lot of other very important factors that did not go away when Pearl was fired. We have a much better shot than most think.
