Because he gets it. Sure, the SEC is a meat grinder, but coaches who can teach and recruit are successful.

Time will definitely tell, but getting the fans on board is the first step. I'm a Stoops fan because he understands what Kentucky needs to become relevant.

You gotta understand, everybody needs a little hope after 4-8 and 2-12.

I don't get why you people think he will be your savior. The last name? We just went through an experiment with a guy with a cool name that actually had head coaching experience and look where it got us. This dude has not even been a HC.

The SEC is the meat grinder of all meat grinders. For UK to ever be good they must follow the plan SC has...find proven winners who may be a little past their prime and bring them in (Holtz, Spurrier). You will never get there with the "diamond in the rough" plan. Not to mention you are UK a program that has never had success so you are starting from scratch without a good seasoned iron skillet.

They haven't even played a game yet, but the fanbase is energized. Players feed off that. It helps recruiting. He's already pulled off their best recruiting class since they started rating them, and he already is making great strides for the 2014 class. After years of Jimmy Carter/Joker Phillips "malaise", it's good to have some hope.

I don't expect a huge turnaround next season, but I do think that they'll pull off a few that they shouldn't be expected to win.

The bold could be said about the Vols also.

I think Stoops is one of the better hires made this year. KY and TN both made major upgrades

Tickets cost for the spring game? Is it the same at UT? If so I guess every year I have gone I have unknowingly gone in without paying.

It's nominal- $1.50. Most of it goes to Ticketmaster. Mainly they have reserved seating for season ticket holders to ensure that no fights over seating occurs. I expect that most will be able to walk in without a ticket and sit in the upper bowl.

i commend anyone who is a kentucky football fan for trying to live the dream.

however, kentucky will never, ever have a quality football program while they are sitting in the sec.

the best they can hope for on a year in, year out basis would be bowl eligibility.

they have a record of 11-108 combined against florida, georgia, tennessee, auburn and alabama since 1980.

25-161 against those same opponents since 1960.

kentucky football is a bad joke

Ut fans will be doing the same exact thing. Don't see why people think it's funny to see massive support a new coach.

Because UK football always has and always will be a big joke!! Now go post this **** somewhere besides Volnation!!

Was there any chance of down grading at either place? Both were already at the bottom of the barrel.

Why all the hate?
Simply giving my opinion.
Stoops has put together a good staff and has excited the cat fans.
I think he is a good hire. There is nothing wrong with saying a kind word about another program.
With that said I hope TN beats the catshat out of KY.

So was Florida before Spurrier.

kentucky has had 3 seasons where they had a winning conference record since 1955

florida had 7 seasons with a winning conference record in the 1960's alone.

florida hasn't been "kentucky bad" on a fairly consistent basis since before world war II

Gramps is what VN used to be. Now it's just full of inhospitable pricks who have no interest in meaningful conversation, just hate because the Internet is a great place to say all the things that gentlemen would never say to another's face.

To elaborate, I used to use my actual pic as an avatar here because I make it a practice not to say anything that I wouldn't say to someone in reality. And then along came the creepy VN cyberstalkers trying to find me and harass me irl. Times change.

To say that Florida was a traditional power before 1986 is a stretch.

1979 notwithstanding, and several years in the 70s were pretty mediocre too.

mediocre > kentucky football

that's why the term "kentucky bad" was used

kentucky bad is consistent losing, not being consistently average
