First off, I still believe butch is the Guy to get us back. Its tough when you have players like Coleman and toney in the secondary, inconsistent pass rush, and lack speed.
With that said, we have enough to be more competitive than we were tonight. We looked unprepared, undisciplined, and the gameplan blew. Bad game, embarrassing actually, all around. Coaches and players.

fair statement.....it's an opinion as has been statement....

I love it how people make these snap judgements on the direction of the program and the coaching staff after games we likely knew were losses BEFORE the season started. It's like the football forum is full of people who are living in a time warp.

This is just further proof of how far this program has fallen thanks to poor administrative decisions, recruiting, etc. I have no doubt whatsoever that CBJ will get us back, but it may take longer than some of you may like. In the meantime feel free to go jump on another teams bandwagon, but don't come back to ours a couple of years down the yard when we are good again.

Who cares if they get another "easy opportunity to score." Technically, you are still alive with a chance (albeit a remote one, to win). You have to take advantage of every possession when you are behind as much as we were.

I hear you....it comes down to strictly opinion...a bunch of folks thought he shouldn't have punted in the SC game...turns out to have been a very smart call.....just depends on what his thoughts were and whether he got the result he wanted...

I agree and disagree......there are area that are improving and area where they are struggling....the team and scheme can uncover things that weren't there....it actually even comes down to a player by player evaluation....not a team one ....gotta keep fightin.....I'm not happy during the game...but i'm not gonna die because of the outcome....pray about and move on is what I do.....I try to maintain some sense of emotional maturity by the end of the game.....messages during the game are a bad idea.....

Well said. Last sentence was great advice. I should heed it next week when we undoubtedly lose our 6th game of the season.

Why is it hard to understand that most aren't upset that we didn't win, but at the fact that we weren't even competitive. Tonight was embarrassing.

I hear ya.......gonna be tough.....but you might be surprised by the result.....could be a pleasant surprise...some good things have happened at home....especially witha young team....home is more comfortable......their record is better at home......1:1 against SEC schools....nearly 2:0......the running QB is my concern....how good are their WR's

What I saw was a defense that gave effort all night and held Missouri to a single score in the second half. They did give uo some big plays but give Missouri some credit and they were on the field a lot. Kicking game was excellent and special teams as a whole played well. The offense took several big steps backwards. Partly it was an inexperienced QB but penalties and dropped passes killed drive after drive.

Silver lining is Dobbs has SEC talent but needs time to progress. I keep reading posts about quitting and lack of effort. That simply was not the case. It was largely lack of execution on the part of the offense. It will get better as Dobbs does. The Vols will be better each week as he settles in.

I don't have an issue with heaping on the praise when it's warranted or being disgusted when the team lacks focus and effort.

Call it what it is.

This!

This belongs entirely on the staff! You don't beat the team that just defeated MO and lose this bad! The talent level is not that different between the teams.

I keep forgetting that "true fans" don't get upset when their team gets CRUSHED by another team. My bad...

I'm not giving up. but, we took ten steps back. the team I saw play tonight was not the same team that played against ga an sc. I know we are still learning. I know we are playing a frosh qb. I know we lack team speed and depth. a lot of the mistakes that were made tonight was a complete lack of discipline and a lack of desire. things that I thought this team had put behind them.this team was beat before they took the field.

where was the fire? where was the intensity? where was the discipline? we came in flat and it was over.

Dobbs didn't get any help and forced a few mistakes as a result. I'm not worried about his ability either. So on that we agree.

On the rest.
We watched 2 different games I suppose. We played undisciplined and uninspired football against a team we should compete with.

I don't think anyone in their right mind doesn't see a talent problem.

That said, anyone in their right could see we played undisciplined and non inspired football against a team we have enough talent to compete with tonight. It was an embarrassing effort and that doesn't require talent.

If that doesn't change next week that's not a good sign at all.

I will agree with most of what you said, and all were valid points. But you got to believe players frustration are running at all time high, and no matter how good of coach you are you aren't turning a Kia into a Lexus!!! We are playing in a Lexus league and just don't have the horse's to do so. The ones we do have are trying to do to much and in doing so screw up worst, then the snowball starts running down the hill. I think Dobbs will be much better next week, as will rest of team after seeing what to expect. Next year we will have more horse's but they will be young. Anybody expecting much different with what Dobbs is giving in 1st start needs to look in mirror and get reality check. But I follow what your saying!!!

In Herm Edward's voice, "You play to win the game".

Agree. Where is the fire and intensity? Watched some of the FSU & Miami game and Miami had the fire and intensity even though they got stomped. I didn't see that from our team.
