Based on what I've read on the internet following the finale they plan on using the same characters and not trying to do standalone seasons like True Detective.

The way I interpreted it is the true portal is the one in the basement of the lab. The rifts that the monster creates are only temporary and "heal" themselves shortly after.

Gracias.. That makes sense!

Watched it all after going 3 pages deep in this thread - freaking awesome!!

Anyone know if the story will continue or will this be a serial series like Hitchcock, Twilight Zone, and American Horror Story??

My childhood straddled the 80s and 90s - so much spot on nostalgia here; had me grinning ear to ear.

Reminds me of a hardcore version of Goosebumps, Goonies, and, of course, The Twilight Zone/Hitchcock Presents.

If Netflix keeps coming with stuff like this, HBO better watch out!
I can see it going American horror story with the upside down being what holds all the seasons together.

Shows I should probably watch but haven't(for no apparent reason):

Game of Thrones
Shameless
Supernatural

The first 5 seasons of Supernatural are on par with the X Files. I'd highly recommend it. I stayed away from it because I thought it was going to be a girly CW show and definitely isn't.

Finished last night - very well done. I enjoyed the fidelity to the time period. Crazy amount of references to other movies of the era.

I enjoyed "The Killing" Netflix original. I might be late to the game, been out awhile.

No, no you didn't.

That was originally an AMC show. It was cancelled by the CDC because it caused drowsiness, and coma like symptoms in it's viewers. I forced myself through the 3 seasons it was on AMC, it's a miracle I'm still alive.

My bad, thought it was Netflix. I read they intended it to end like it did. Anyways, I thought it was cool.

That last season WAS Netflix. AMC cancelled with no wrap up. Might quibble with "original", but otherwise you were right.

Yes, the final season was picked up by Netflix. I was merely joking about the review. The acting, production, and story line were good but the overall pace was just painfully slow.
