That's no excuse. Don't tell me 25,000 students went home for a 4 day ( Thursday-Sunday) Fall Break. The students are becoming less and less interested in attending games, a trend that has been occurring over the last several years. This is not only at UT but at most universities. We were playing the #11 team in the country and might have had 4,000 students at best. When I was in school we would have had to camp out to get tickets for a game like this, Fall break or no Fall break.
Do students leave during fall break?

I stood most of the game yesterday as did most of the fans around me. Obviously you weren't at the game.

I was at ND this weekend and they have a huge student section...they make both bands stand in the corners of the field the entire game....great atmosphere and the student were pumped the entire game...oh and it was fall break.
Stop lying to affirm your preconceived point. It's embarrassing... I have my gripes about the students, but I've been going to UT game for the last 20 years since I was a kid and campus has ALWAYS been a ghost town during fall break.
No, we all didn't. That's why the student section was still rocking.
We can watch the game these days on TVs with a screen bigger than the palm of my hand and high enough definition to see blades of grass on the field. I also think education has taken a much bigger priority in big programs than in earlier times, so many students aren't all about their football experience in college.
I'm sorry that some of the students can't get as excited as you guys did back in the day, but we haven't had the luxury of expecting big upsets or SEC wins in our student career here.... actually, I'm not sorry, because I took a pass on going home to my family in Memphis to attend this game. I'm not sorry, because myself (student since 2009) and most of my fellow students have endured the worst Tennessee teams and most disappointing ways to lose in history for the past few years, and thousands of us still showed up at Georgia and South Carolina over fall break after an emotional loss (most of the students around me after Georgia were in tears) and gave everything we had to be loud and support our team and our school.
Get off your 'back in my day' high horse and understand that things are different now, and yet, some of us still come to games week in and week out.
I don't remember many games from 1996-2001 where you could hardly even find a ticket.
