students have bought less than 7500 tix

I chose to attend UT because it presented me an opportunity at an affordable and marketable education. Your enthusiasm is great, but there are better cities and universities. Not saying UT isn't a good place, but it isn't heaven on Earth like some make it out to be.

I do find it funny how the biggest Vol fans are those who never attended the university....

Wrong troll boy. I agree with you being something that sounds like hunt. Stay your woman tail at home and watch with your "friends" (yeah right) on your massive 40" tv. GTFO. You make this alumni sick to his stomach. Give me your address and I'll show up Saturday morning, drink you under the table, carry you to the game, buy you a ticket, and force you to support this university. You and your ilk are the ones behind the pussification of this country. Sorry for the language but I'll be **** if I sit here and listen to this crap and be silent. You call Neyland a dump?? I'll take a dump on your coffee table. The drink offer still stands.

You had to experience it in person like I did when I was a student. People would stomp their feet in the stands on 3rd downs and it would literally feel like Neyland was trembling. Old grainy video with poor audio quality rarely enhances anything.

Yea, the foot stomping scared the heck out of more than one first time guest of mine. lol

Why should I as a student, Vol fan or not, waste my hard earned $10 and four hours of my Saturday when I already know what the outcome of the game will be? Every Vols game in recent years has either been a blowout win against an inferior opponent or a blowout loss against a formidable SEC opponent. The atmosphere is boring, frankly.

Like others have said, winning changes everything. And no, I'm not talking about routing a D2 opponent with high school talent. I'm talking about actual games against formidable opponents. Only then can you criticize the student body if we don't show up.

Just to note, I'd gladly spend ten times that to travel either 3 hours west to Nashville or four hours east to Charlotte on a Sunday and watch a game in which the outcome is not a foregone conclusion.

Just stop. If your time is such a valuable commodity, why are you on a Vol fan site complaining about game atmosphere and the on-field product.

Here are some facts. If you have friends there is no way you're not having fun pre-gaming and attending a game in Neyland. Throw in a couple of pretty girls and it is the highlight of your weekend. I've been to college games all over the east coast and have always had a good time. Neyland has been the best environment I've ever experienced, and it had nothing to do with the on-field product. Additionally, I'm an alumnus of a different BCS level school and while still fun, the atmosphere isn't 1/50th of what UT offers.

You can pretend to be high and mighty on the internet here, where no one can see you for what you are. Let's be honest, you sit in every Saturday watching other people have fun - and then condemn it for what it is because you feel inadequate in joining in. That's fine, just do us a favor here and quietly exit stage left.

Or, quit feeling sorry for yourself. Take your tampon out, change your faded skinny jeans and thick-rimmed glasses, and put on some functional orange attire. Knoxville is awesome, UT gameday is fantastic, and our fans are awesome to mingle with. Go experience it more often and you'll come around, I'm confident.

Student ticket sales are up into the 11,000 range now...upper deck student seats are being sold which rarely ever happens. Close to half of the undergrad student body will be in attendance. That is impressive.

Impressive?No.

I am going to be a student at UT in the Spring so football will be over, but you can bet I won't miss a home game next season.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, your not exactly giving it Alumn a good reputation, also don't feed the trolls.

They just need to fix the internet problem inside Neyland. That way the kids won't miss any tweets, Facebook's or instagrams. That is probably the real problem.

Another thing, I'll take you mom out to a lovely dinner at Red Lobster and NEVER call her again.

I love the Vols and as a student have never missed a home game, and even went to some away games. BUT, football is not the priority for most of these COLLEGE students, if yall remember this is a college. Of course it was easy to give away tickets back when we were winning, but we havent had a good win in God knows how long, so why would these people want to go to a game, especially in the hot sun. Hell i was so pissed i almost walked out after that kick got blocked last week. Its not the $10, its the horrible product we have seen over the past 5 years.

"THIS IS NOT HOW I FEEL" btw.

The best win we've had in Neyland since I've been here was beating Ole Miss in 2010.

I love our football team and go to all the games, but for the students who aren't really interested in football there's no big attraction in attending one of our games.

So ~11k tickets sold now, yet we still have this sky is falling thread on the front page? I even bumped it by commenting...this is why people should not make reactionary thread titles.

reactionary? Seems like the thread title was correct when it was made

When did the foot stomping stop? I remember that, and the cup throwing from the upper deck when ever there was a bad call. It would rain plasitc cups.

The place was crazy in the late 80's and 90's. Kind of seems like this stuff ended as Hamilton took over and started charging students, and hiking ticket prices?

Don't know. When the upper deck was full and everyone stomped their feet for kickoff, it was downright scary from the sidelines.

It probably stopped at about the same time that the Miss Marjorie Jenkins of the world got their open letter to UT's unruly fans posted in the KNS.

Sorry Cody. I'll practice sitting down and golf clapping.

Said no decent fan ever.

Neyland used to be a feared and rowdy place to play. Don't tell me winning will bring it back either.

You see friends, I was a freshman in 1988. We lost our first 6 games. I firmly recall the upper deck shaking....cups flying by the thousands....it literally being so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you. Even though we were losing....the student section was one massive party. We were bummed out when we lost, and kept losing....but WE WENT TO SUPPORT OUR TEAM.

Well....if we hadn't gone through the losses.....the 1989-1998 run wouldn't have been as appreciated as it was. I hope this young man regrets not going to support the team, because WE WILL BE BACK! It's just going to make it that much sweeter when we are!

Go Vols and I'm sorry to make fellow alumni look enthusiastic. Hey, I offered to buy him booze & a ticket.

As a student at UT I'd rather spend my 10 bucks on beer than watch that utter crap on the field at Neyland. I still wouldn't go even if tickets were free. The team sucks, the stadium is a dump, no alcohol is allowed, and you are exposed to the elements.

I'd much rather sit in my apartment with my 40" flat screen, invite some friends over, and get drunk while watching Worley complete more passes to the other team.
17-17 end of the 3rd.
Win or lose this game, I hope your pansy ass is sitting in your room right now with your one other pansy friend, realizing what you're missing since we suck so bad and it's sunny and warm outside. Nancy.
