Maybe the Vols will start losing for you so that new plays will be called?

Wouldn't it be cool if we had a high octane offense like Florida!?!?! :dlol:

TNVOLS1, are you with me? Why stop there? Check it out, since Zook's whole staff is apparently available, we could get rid of Sanders too, and Chavis, and. . . .Yeah, yeah. . . . And then, we could bring back John Ward and get rid of Kessling. And then. . . .

WE COULD GET BEAT BY MISSISSIPPI STATE!

I used the pass on the goal line as and example of not being conservative with the play calling. I would have called a run as well.

I just read where the play at the goal line that resulted in the INT was supposed to be a quick fade to the corner of the end zone, but for some reason Ainge didn't throw it there. That makes me feel a little better about the call since a fade is a relatively safe throw. If you look at the replay, I don't know what Ainge was thinking. It looked like he was trying to rifle one into a tight space, but there were literally 3 defenders who could have potentially made that pick.

If I remember it was Bret Smith that ran a fade on the left side. Don't know why Ainge didn't throw it though.

Like I say, the only people with a shot at catching that pass should've been sitting in section "Y." Bad decision, but he's learning. I'm sure he'll remember that one for a long, long time.

Just to add my 2 cents... I'm thrilled with the win - I didn't really expect to have the record we do this far into the season. I'll take a win, ugly or pretty, against Bama any day of the week - I don't even have a problem with the play calling - I think it was appropriate for the game we were playing given the success of the defense and the offense's struggles.
As for the booing, it disappoints me. I hate to see our guys get booed by their own fans - they don't know if it's them, the coaches, or something else that's happened in the game - regardless, it can't make them feel good. Also, if I were a blue chip recruit and I saw the fans at a school blast the guys who put their hearts on the line, I might have second thoughts. That said, it's each fan's individual right to make that choice - I simply hate to see it.

How odd! I was at the game, but I don't recall any booing by the fans. I guess I was too into the game and cheering to notice it!

I will have to commend our fans for negating the BAMA fans' booing for Fulmer, though. Everytime they saw him on the jumbotron or walking into the locker room, they vehemently booed and we drowned them out with our cheering. :good:

I agree that we are lucky to have the team and the record that we have this season. This was supposed to be a tough rebuilding year with freshmen at the quarterback position and our team has done extremely well with what they have. I also feel that the play calling was too conservative in the Bama game, in particular, but Fulmer knew he had to have the win and stupid mistakes could have prevented that.

GO VOLS!!!!!!! I'm so proud to be from Tennessee and wear orange!

:D

I dont think booing at your team is the way to go either, but i cant say i agreed with some of that play calling. The 3rd and long draws were the stupidest thing that i have seen. they might have been ok if we were running the ball effective but we were not. And just running up the middle every time we dicide to run. ( I am going to get ate up for this one but here goes) We dont have the big powerful backs we have had in the past to be pounding it up the middle every play. I am not saying our backs are bad i think we have a great set of backs but they are not like Jay grahm, jamal lewis, etc.. I know cedric houston is not a small guys but when the last time one of our backs has broken a 50 yard touchdown.

GO ahead let me have it but thats the way i feel

We definitely lack a dynamic threat at running back. Riggs and Houston have had their moments, but neither of them is a real home run threat when they touch the ball.

Im not dissing either of the backs we have now but we need a back like adrian peterson, or cedric benson. man those guys can run the ball and run over a few people while they are doing it. I personally believe those guys are more like the kinda backs we used to have.

In fairness to Houston and Riggs, due to the fact that we have a freshman QB, they are seeing a lot of 8 and 9 man fronts.

Thats tru but i cant see riggs just plowing over people. Houston has that ability but not to a degree that the other i metioned have.

Yeah and with all the recruits that come to games on visits will surely be impressed by the fans. We won and did so against a very hyped team. The single play that turned the game happened by a pass not a run between the tackles. We won move on. Boo if you want but remember we have recruits come to most games. Not to mention how it looks on TV. You don't boo our team in our house it just aint right.

Agreed. I've always thought that booing your own team is as low as it gets. Save it for Sunday Sportstalk or post it here if you ain't happy. But DO NOT for a second think that Phil or Randy or anyone else for that matter gives a damn about a minority of classless losers booing the play-calling WHILE they are beating Bama for a NINTH TIME IN TEN YEARS.

Besides, the kids on the field are working their tails off and don't have even a hint of a say in which play is called in. They're just kids and the crowd does make a difference. I mean, how many times do the fans give 'em a good "stand up and holler" and soon thereafter you see a big hit or a sack or a stand on the goal line?

So, next time you feel like "booing" the Vols, save it for John Adams: trust me, he'll be writing about it the next day.

:bash: I HATE PEOPLE WHO BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whether it be baseball, football or any other sport! Get a clue people, booing does nothing for our team and the coach's won't change the way they coach because a few know it all fans don't like the calls.

I disagree with many calls but what do you and I know? Do you watch hours of film? Have you coached for years and years? Like I said, I don't agree with many calls but give the coachs credit!

Love them when they win, hate them when they lose....... :censored: FANS! The coachs and players deserve better!

I don't think booing is appropriate either but we have to remember that die hard fans become emotionally involved in the game and sometimes our frustration just slips out. I don't think it affects the players too much and I think they know most of the boos come when we think the the wrong plays are called on offense. You hardly ever hear a boo on a poor defensive play or on indivual play like a missed tackle. Coaches yell and scream at the players all the time so I would imagine that they are pretty thick skinned. Boos have been heard in every stadium thats ever been built. What we could do is start a fund to make sure all our players get counseling for there post tramatic boo disorder, or better yet, if the team gets booed, they can stop the game and then the cheerleaders can go out and kiss the players boo-boos until they feel strong enough to continue the game...just joking around guys and gals, don't get offended.

I just have a problem in general with yahoo fans who are convinced that they know what's best even though they probably don't know anything about football that they didn't learn on Sports Center.

It's amazing how smart people get AFTER the play is run.

I WENT AWAY FOR A WHILE,AND WILL STAY AWAY ,BUT I'M JUST ENJOYING READING THE DISPLEASURES OF "COACH" RANDY SANDERS GENIUS. NOTHING HAS CHANGED FROM THE ALABAMA GAME ON BACK, AND IT NEVER WILL AS LONG AS HE IS IN CHARGE. COACH CHAVIS TOOK ONLY ONE QUARTER TO FIGURE OUT SHULA'S OFFENSE, RANDY IS STILL SCRATCHING HIS HEAD. GREAT JOB COACH CHAVIS, HOPE SOMEDAY WE HAVE AN OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR THAT CAN MAKE YOUR JOB MORE EASILY DONE. THE FANS WERE NOT BOOING THE PLAYERS BUT, BOOING THE COACHES FOR FAILING TO GIVE THEM THEIR BEST CHANCE TO SUCCEED.
