yeah those skits were terrible, but maynard is what he is. i thought the best line came toward the end. "as you can probably tell, i'm not much of a people person"

he has always been one of those people that you are just not real sure what to make of him. i think this doc just showed a little glimpse into what he is really like, without giving it all away.

God they were painful, I couldn't figure out who watched those and thought it would be a good idea.

I've never been a huge fan of his music so it wasn't like I went in with a fan's approach to begin with. The "not being much of a people person" attitude is what made him seem like a bit of a jackass. I will say though that he did become more likeable as the doc went on, especially about the part with the wine for his mom.

and for the record, sublime i can take it or leave it. great summertime party music.

On topic part of the post: I still really enjoy sublime when its on but I don't usually choose to listen to it anymore. I think the only cd I ever actively seek out anymore is Bradley Nowell and Friends.

Yeah it's mine as well. I really like the album. Best since around IMO.

Just a follow up.

Adrenaline and ATF are their staples no doubt. That being said i would put White Pony right there with those two. The self titled was hit or miss, but "Deathblow" and "Battle Axe" and "Needles And Pins" are easily in my top 20 Deftones songs list..

I would say that "40 Oz..." is probably owned by almost every one of my college friends. And, almost every one of us still breaks it out on a occasional basis.

I've heard numerous accounts that Deftones are awful live. Kinda ruins it for me when I can't go see a good live show if I choose to.

FYI, i just spent 60 bucks for a ticket to see them in Detroit. call me a tard, im looking forward to it, honestly don't know why it is so much seeing it cost me 20 bucks last time saw them in 07 in St. Pete..

Listening to "Bloody Cape" right now from their self titled album. The intro is amazing and the end is almost as good.So many hidden gems from this band..

Topic im pretty sure hasn't been covered,

Was this just some two bit band who got lucky with a heroin OD who got two songs overplayed on "alternative radio" for years on.

Or do they deserve credit where credit is due, cranking out reggae flavored feel good songs that hold up over time..

For me, still a must listen, i remember when i first moved to Florida, "40 oz To Freedom" and "Robbin The Hood" were must plays every day.. JMHO
.

I've asked this question to a lot of different people, and the answer largely turns on the age of the answerer.

To me, they are one of my alltime favorite bands. I listened to them for like three straight years nonstop. Brad Nowell would have been something special.

"Sublime" and 40 oz to freedom are two of my favorite albums. I really dislike the rest of their stuff though.
