Hi Freak, just curious if the missing Likes can/will be restored? Not a huge deal and have been resisting asking the question as I know you have a ton on your plate to address and this is low on the priority list. It's interesting that the number of posts are correct, but the likes are not. Thanks and I like what you've done with the site. You don't get near enough credit for the amount of time, effort and money you put into making this site great!

Freak has said that they're all in the database and he knows what the issue is. He's working on a fix but he hasn't posted when it'll be available yet.

It seems like, at this point, Freak might do better just to send an email to the entirety of VN explaining the likes issue, noting that it will eventually get fixed, and promising an immediate ban for life for any posts asking about missing likes... 1533853254022.gif

Or just take alllllll the likes away and stop counting them. People care way too much about likes.

That actually makes sense.

It’s a way for VN to provide feedback for individual posts, but it takes away any motivation for crafting a post to generate likes. Which does happen.

So maybe more honesty in post contents, plus real-time feedback. win-win!

Have suggested it twice.
Believe the like counter changes how some communicate. Also believe the reaction to the lost likes is somewhat proof of that.

@Freak, i noticed a problem. When i go to the NFL forum i don't see the Steelers have already given up on Dobbs thread, but when i look at someone who's posting in there's page i can click their post link to get there. Does that make sense?

Still not happy about this change. I miss the old version that showed every thread, unless the thread itself was on ignore, and displayed “You have this poster on ignore” or some such, showed all the other posts, and had the option to read the post by the poster who had driven you to near-insanity.

Unlike many forums that are lucky to have two replies to a thread, VN has tons of threads that start out shaky or downright dumb, and then get better. The ignore poster feature becomes less useful when it can block entire threads.

I know it’s part of the package and can’t be changed. Just venting. Happy weekend. 1533871211121.gif

My "reaction" was simply a question on whether or not they will return. I take pride in the like to post ratio because it means I don't post garbage and focus on thought provoking / relevant replies and threads. If you claim you've never looked at your number of likes previously, I think you are being deceitful ;)

I wasn't referring to you in particular.

As for me, I'm always on mobile. You have to click your screen name to check. In the old version, I would go months and months without doing that. believe what you wish, much like the likes, I'm kind of indifferent to it. If I post garbage, several will be happy to let me know.

It was in there but the new site doesn't work on my phone correctly. It deletes words and skips letters like crazy. I am to the point that I am just going to let go and hope people decipher it. This one post took 15 corrections.
