Summer ball 2024

Who’s got the hookup?

Andrew Fischer, INF, Tennessee (2025) — Fischer’s .231 average at Brewster isn’t indicative of how well he swung the bat in his 19 games there, as he had a number of loud outs along the way, and if advanced statistics are your thing, his wOBA was among league leaders during his time on the Cape. He went into the summer looking to cut down on his strikeouts and he did so by striking out just nine times while taking 14 free passes. Fischer has had a knack for finding the barrel ever since he first stepped on campus at Duke two years ago, and he flashes power to all fields. Defensively, things are much more of a work in progress. He played third base and second base for the Whitecaps, and was better at the hot corner, as he performed better when he had less time to react and therefore worked on instinct. At second base, his limited range hamstrung him, as did a lack of feel around the bag.

The strength of SEC baseball is displayed in full force in collegiate summer leagues across the nation, but none hold more weight than the Cape Cod Baseball League. That comes front and center as SEC Network debuts Summerball: Cape Cod on August 23 at 10:30am ET.

Sounds and feels like a Vandy promo, and zero players from the national championship team? No thanks.

I see the show is produced by two vandy guys. They follow around eleven SEC players. Of the eleven guys that are followed, four of them play for vandy 🙄 I wonder if Corbin makes a cameo.

Ridiculous that they don’t include a player from the NC team. A slanted Vandy bias I’m sure…
