Sun Bowl: #15 ASU vs Duke (CBS)

I don't know all that much about the state of either program, but I see ASU is ranked 15. Was Duke overmatched in this one, or was it just a choke?

I thought ASU was clearly the better team but Duke didn't give up. This wasn't a choke. And even though they were up big last year on A&M, TAMU was the better team so it's hard to call that a choke either.

Really all 3 have just been tough losses. Cincy was the only team they were a closer matchup.

That's what it looked like to me too, but I didn't watch the whole game. It's a bad draw for them then. Can't fault them for giving a better team hell for 60 minutes and just falling short. At least they have basketball to fall back on now.

I don't think we actively, regularly recruit against Duke.

Well, theoretically we do. And, especially as their program has gotten better. There were a couple of recruits the last couple years that Duke offered too.

Hey, I'm also rooting for USC against Miami. Can't stand the Canes even though I have a good friend who went there.

Actually, I let about 96% of said opportunites go by.

Just keep that other 4% in your pocket too. Let me use some of your logic: Cutcliffe just can't win bowl games. He must sux. If UT wins vs Iowa, that would make CBJ undefeated in bowl games at his program and he would have one more than Cutcliffe at his. Thus Butch > Cutcliffe in important games.

Duke's average recruiting class, the last four years: 64th. So is East Carolina a recruiting rival as well?

We used to recruit the Carolinas pretty strongly historically. But the for a few years we kind of died off in that area but are starting to make a comeback in that area. Yes, I think maybe a little but ACC schools more so.

Whatever the business is, they aren't our recruiting rivals. Alabama, Georgia, Florida, et al? Recruiting rivals.

Cutcliffe better than Butch.

After reading your post history, I've come up with the following conclusion:

Butch must've hurt or offended you in some way, because you appear to have a negative agenda. You almost never give him credit when good things happen (I'd just say never, but you have at the very least given him credit for his recruiting). You're always one of the first people to jump on him when something bad happens.

This time he was crapping on him for what was happening in the asu- duke game. I guess he just couldn't wait until the bowl. Too much good news happening, it was all bottling up: recruiting, some UT players honored with awards, Highest GPA for our team in history, etc.

Another kick in the nuts for Duke's bowl games. Once again Cut coaches them up to just fall short. Very frustrating.
