A baseball analogy if I may. With 1 out, bottom of the ninth, runner in scoring postition firmly on second base, Dooley steps to the plate and hits a sac fly to advance the runner to third. The bad news is we needed a single to the outfield which could have scored the runner on second to win the game. The good news is there's still one out with Sunseri coming to the plate...

Will Sunseri pan out, maybe... maybe not. But one thing is for sure, it's certainly far from the homerun hire this fan base and recruiting class needed. Dooley had an opportunity to invoke excitement back into the program and fanbase with the hire of a PROVEN DC. Instead we're once again hiring (for whatever reason, money, lack of interest due to the one-and-done likelihood of Dooley's tenure) a "lotsa potential" guy. How'd that work out for Fulmer when he hired Clawson? Insanity.

As a side bonus, with this hire he's managed to piss off one of the program most loyal coaches and proven recruiters (Lance Thompson).

The dumpster fire that is the current state of our football program sadly.... blazes on.

So to translate your Clawson analogy.... Dooley is going to hire Sunseri to run his defense, but Dooley will not let him put everything in and coach it like he wants to?

That time UT's#1 fan spent 30 minutes at his work computer grappling over what's the best sports metaphor to appear poignant and deep in his dislike of Derek Dooley.

Wow, thank you for this post! I was really worried for a second there! I was thinking that the reason we sucked this year is because our team was trying to hit the football through the goalposts with a wooden bat.

If there is still one out, did they miss the sacrifice fly that dooley hit? If so, the runner on 2nd should have scored.

Young people, this is a good example what drugs do to your brain. Stay away from drugs or you will say things like this.

I've struck a nerve I see.

I don't understand. Maybe phrase that with a hockey analogy?

What exactly about Sunseri is underwhelming? The fact that he was an integral part of a defense that some are hailing as one of the best in collegiate history?

first off, if Dooley hit a sac fly with one out and a runner on second, then you have a runner on third with 2 outs. So Sunseri comes to the plate with two outs not one. There, that should fix your baseball analogy.
Secondly, some fool who's name used to be Gay4Bray starts a thread that says Lance Thompson is pissed and you just totally buy in. One things for sure, we don't really know crap until an announcement is made.

got to be optimistic that it will work out for Dooley. Strange though he picked this person over staying in house with proven Thompson

Not to mention Bama's best recruiter - a team that has won the NC twice in the past 3 years.
