But with only 38% of Americans saying the Republicans in Congress are making a sincere effort to work with Obama and the Democrats, compared with 66% who say Obama is trying to work with the Republicans, Americans seem more likely to fault the Republicans than the president for the lack of tangible evidence of increased bipartisanship. (At the same time, only 44% say the Democrats in Congress are making a sincere effort to work with Republicans, suggesting that while Obama gets solid credit for efforts at bipartisanship, his fellow party members in Congress do not.)

Show me the obvious poll that says Americans believe it died down.

What do you mean by "it"? Partisan division? This poll suggests it has died down:

Overview: Strong Confidence in Obama - Country Seen As Less Politically Divided

For the first time in several years, there has been a sharp decline in the proportion of Americans who say the country is more politically divided than in the past. Fewer than half (46%) now see the country as more divided, down 20 points from January 2007 (66%).

Moreover, the percentage saying that Republicans and Democrats in Washington will work together more to solve problems, rather than bicker and oppose each other, is markedly higher than it was at the start of either of President Bush’s two terms. Currently, 50% say the two parties will work together more to solve problems, while 39% expect more partisan bickering. Four years ago, just 30% said the two parties would work cooperatively while nearly twice as many (59%) said they anticipated more partisan bickering. Public expectations for partisan cooperation are now as great as in January 2002, amid the mood of national unity that prevailed after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Harrier Miers, as the only single member council anywhere, should have been nominated.

I'm afraid Obama might nominate himself, being a constitutional scholar and all. Did you know he actually taught law?

You have to be kidding?

that doesn't make the stupidity any more true. Obama is every bit the partisan hack that Kennedy is, but mildly more liberal and wildly more idealistic.

Maybe so. But you asked for a poll showing partisanship has died down. There it is. With polls, perception and truth are two different things.

did you notice the date of that atrocious article and the fact that it was simply a response the the rancor from the dem clowns dying down since the Rs had become lame ducks.

It's folly to pretend that the polling there indicated that Americans believe in anything but the class struggle being carried out by our elected crooks.

and the claim that Obama is seeking bipartisan cooperation is symptomatic of a serious mental defect.

Again....

The polling showed that there was a significant drop off of the perception of partisanship from the previous year. That's what you asked for, that what I have.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with anything you're saying.

Interesting Souter was nominated by Bush Sr., but waited until Bush Jr. left office to announce his retirement.

The reality is, BO will have 2 nominees, Ruth Ginsburg has cancer. This might change the balance of the court.

only if BO picks up a third nomination. Souter and Ginsberg are both considered "left".

It's mindblowing that of the 4 liberals on the court, Bush 41 appointed Souter and Ford appointed John Paul Stephens.

I just hope Scalia, Thomas, Alito, Roberts and Kennedy are taking plenty of vitamins.

You probably wont believe this. But Souter and Stephens were considered moderates until the court shifted right when Thomas and Scalia were confirmed. Then they became the left leaning with Sandra Day O'Connor, who was also appointed by a Republican, Reagan.

BTW Stephens is 89, there's a chance BO will appoint 3 judges.

Ya, that's the crazy thing is most of the "left" in the courts were appointed by Republican Presidents. I consider O'cconner to be far more left than I do right (most moderates are light liberals really). As far as I remember Ginsberg was the only one Clinton nominated, and ya she's a nutbag.

ya.

The right is getting ready to have a heart attack since the democrats have a filibuster proof majority for their nominee.
