sweet 16 games

The Washington big Osahor had her legs crushed in an accident and it is pretty amazing she is able to play at all. She is only able to practice a little, and often is riding a stationary bike while the team runs practice. But she led the nation in rebounding and has incredible short area quickness. Not sure she will have a pro career because of her limitations though.
MSU looked pretty good and I think with their size may be able to be competitive with Baylor.

Didn't know of her past. Makes me look like the ass I can be over part of what I posted above. Sorry for part of the post, but the observation stands, there are lots of body types like this in the women's game. I still wonder when really good athletic types are going to thin this type out.

When the refs read the rule book?

I think Baylor will take Uconn down

Before the tournament, I didn't think so, but the B12 tournament loss seems to have really focused Baylor. They've looked so, so impressive so far.

Watching Maryland against Oregon right now, I don't see them seriously challenging UConn. But Baylor I think has a really good shot.

It's amazing what coaching can do. Tennessee has way more talent than Oregon, but yet they look very good and is picking apart this Maryland defense. Very fundamentally sound and plays very smart. I miss the old days of Lady Vols basketball. It's been a very long time since Tennessee hasn't played the second weekend of the tournament.

I think Ionescu is better than anyone on Tennessee's team. She's a triple double threat every night, and gets her teammates involved. She's a far and away the best rookie this season.

Strangely, I also think the loss to Louisville was their best tournament loss in terms of performance in the Holly Warlick era because they didn't play scared for a change, even if they lost in R2.

They are hitting threes very well and if they keep it up they will win today. I expect Maryland will get their inside game going but Oregon has played well thus far.

It's hard to get an athletic 6'6 and taller post. That's why Griner was such a gamechanger. I don't think there's been anyone in the game with her combination of height, length, quickness and athleticism. Teaira McCowan and Kalani Brown, for all of their physical attributes, are still fairly slow and cannot react to change of pace/direction the same way that Griner could.

When high school girls that are 6'5-6'7 show up that have the same physical gifts as Griner, that's when the lumbering, plodding wide body will start to become less of a priority (although there will still be demand for that).

Having said this, I was impressed by Osahor's footwork, post moves and first step for a player her size. She has a very unique skillset, although I don't know if she will be long for the WNBA.

Maryland missing easy layups and short shots Oregon is rebounding and making the threes. Looks like Maryland is going down today.

Oregon playing with 3 freshman in their starting lineup and they are giving Maryland a hard time. So hoping our incoming freshman can have a big impact for us next year THATS ONLY IF HOLLY DEVELOPS THEM RIGHT!!!!:banghead2:

They panicked and played scared late in the 4th. and Holly gave up not trying to foul. That right there was the attitude of a quitter. The team mirrors the coach . I felt all yr the players were creating their own opportunities with not much help from the bench. Just my observation.

Diamond was guarding Asia and couldn't foul her because he had four fouls. What the hell was that game plan? They would need Diamond to mount a comeback, so why did Holly put her on Asia? Some people are trying to pin that on the players, but I agree it was 100% on Holly.

Oregon is like Tennessee plays great games and terrible ones. They lost by 16 to Ole Miss and 21 to Stanford. 14 to Miss St., 22 to Washington. They lost by 15 in the tourney to Stanford. They have several excellent wins also against UCLA, Duke, California and Washington. They are up and down like we were all season.

I really can't wait to see what next yrs team does. I said two yrs ago on this board that 2016-2017 would be the yr Holly has to prove she could lead this team back to .... heck anything SEC champs, FF, anything . Well my fears came true and it was the worst yr so far with a loaded team. Now will next yr be a lot of the same ? we shall see.

They are very young. Three freshmen. But they peaked for the PACT and NCAAT.

Ionescu is really, really good. She's what I thought Alexa could be, minus the rebounding.

Yeah it's crazy! Where did Oregon come from? They blew Maryland away.

They beat Washington in the PACT, so they've had their moments this year. They barely beat Temple, and I dismissed the win over Duke as lucky because of Lambert's injury, but I think I was wrong on that one.

I think the reason people miss on Osahor is because she will play like a Semi truck. She can get so involved in setting screens that almost kill the defender, shoving players - both offensively and defensively - out of position with that huge body, etc. that when she makes an athletic move in the paint it goes unnoticed. Miss St's game plan was to run Wa down, and it worked. Osahor looked bad in 4th qtr., but how did Cedes look against Louisvile in the 4th?

Osahor has more talent than some will give her credit; she gets by with fouls she should not.

I'm including Diamond on that list, sorry. Not as athletic, but does everything and an excellent decision maker.

Sabrina avg 13 pts, 6 rebs & 5 assist Diamond avg 17 pts 7 rebs & 4 assist. Like I said put some respect on her name.

Yeah, I agree. Sabrina may be a better shooter, but when Diamond is dialed in it is fun to watch. Diamond is very athletic at 6'1" and is strong. All she needs is a consistent jump shot and become a reliable threat from behind the arc.
