Syria attack: Activists says dozens, including children, killed by gas

So Trump, who repeatedly criticized Obama for even hinting at military action, and who on the campaign trail bragged about how secretive he would be about military action, tweeted that he's going to be sending smart missiles into Syria... and for the Russians to be on the lookout for them.

You just can't make this up, folks.

Did he give them a time and date?

He did the same thing with the airstrip strike last time. I don't fault him. If he were to kill Russian soldiers on the ground with such a strike, we'd be in a serious mess.

Not yet.

But he has told them the mechanism of attack and that it is imminent.

Why tell the Russians what he's going to do so they can be ready to shoot them down?

Why do that?

Why?

The tweet was stupid but come on, the Russians aren’t dumb. They know if we attack what we’ll use.

What would happen? Putin would do a shirtless outdoor photo op?

Wait. I thought the Russians told Trump what he’s doing?🤪

I AM SO DAMNED CONFUSED!!

The Russians have a sense of a range of things we might do. Trump has told them the specific one he has selected.

Seems like Trump is giving them a bit of a heads up, doesn't it?

"I want to be unpredictable with this," he continued. "I don't want to be like Obama, where he's always saying you know, we're going to do, in two weeks, we're going to do this, and then we're going to do that."

"It makes perfect sense," Hewitt concurred. "It's Nixonian."

Didn't Trump say we're pulling out of Syria in 2 weeks? You can't make this stuff up.

I added the last line because of the rich irony.

Obama is one of the reasons things have festered over there and gotten to this point.

I think you are missing the overall point. No one can really argue what you are saying about narcissists and rogue dictators. The argument comes when you make the claim that Assad is one of those type of leaders.

And to be honest, with your fears and concerns about narcissists being in control of a country, how can you sleep knowing that Trump is your president?

He is one of those leaders. I don't trust Trump, but I have a tiny bit of faith in the checks and balances here. Not so much in syria

I cannot believe you thought my post was worth a reply and explanation. You’re slipping LG.

Well his capricious and reckless nature seems to come at odd times. The last two gas attack events occurred not too long after Trump made comments about reducing forces or pulling troops out.

Exactly...

I'm sure Assad was thinking "well, now that the Americans are about to pull out, let's use chemical weapons"...

This alone should tell people this was provocation used as pretext to invade Syria...

"Why do we keep broadcasting when we are going to attack Syria. Why can't we just be quiet and, if we attack at all, catch them by surprise?" Trump tweeted in response.

-- Trump 2013
He argued that he "would not go into Syria, but if I did it would be by surprise and not blurted all over the media like fools."
"For the first time in the history of military operations a country has broadcast what, when and where they will be doing in a future attack!" Trump also wrote back then.
Who are our generals that are allowing this fiasco to happen right before our eyes. Call it the "PLENTY OF NOTICE WAR"
5:31 AM - Aug 31, 2013
"In war, the elememt (sic) of surprise is sooooo important. What the hell is Obama doing," Trump wrote, a day after Obama announced he believed the US should take military action against Syria with approval from Congress.

Well now that the English are almost out of this war, lets invade Russia.

Well now that America is bedding down for the winter lets launch the largest ground offensive on that front.

well since America isn't part of this war lets go ahead and attack their naval base in Hawaii.

Trut has a point, this seems to be exactly what a crazy dictator would do.

I'm saying that there is a reason that Trump is helping Russia shoot the missiles down.

Killing a bunch of Russian soldiers while trying to attack Assad would be quite provocative.

I doubt there's a single general who wouldn't agree that any strike must do all it can to avoid starting a greater conflict with Russia.

Much of the complaints about telegraphing intentions were about setting dates for withdrawal; not about tactical responses.

Plenty of generals had a problem with telegraphing when we are going to pull out.

Your comment makes no sense at all.

Our strike will target areas where we believe the Russians are not located. This is already known.

Our telling the Russians we are going to fire missiles isn't going to cause them to leave Syria. It is simply telegraphing to them which option Trump has chosen so they can have their SAMs ready to go and be on alert for them.

Trump telling Russia we are firing missiles will not cause a change to where the Russians are. It serves only top help them prepare to shoot down the missiles.

I think we should use the forum liberals to go over and just start talking.

We'd get the surrender of Syria, Russia, North Korea and China within about twelve minutes.
