Tajh Boyd has another Big Day

Alabama had it to start the year and I would love to be sitting where they are. There is only controversity if you are losing.

Alabama also had some bad quarterback play at the beginning of the year.

They're asking their quarterback not to lose games. UT is asking the quarterback to win them. There's a difference.

To be honest, I'm just glad to not have any doubt about who is the quarterback. Only reason I would want Boyd is if Bray got hurt. If Bray avoids injury, I'm perfectly fine with him never having played here.

Also, I think Bray is a much better fit for what we're trying to do and who we'll go up against.

And that's in a spread offense tailored to his strengths. In a pro-style offense like UT's, he would have made Jonathan Crompton look like Johnny Unitas.

Exaggerated post is exaggerated.

Always good to have a solid backup. However, I can't say I miss the QB controversy, and I think we're better off without it.

This guy is more than a backup. He's beat more top 25 teams in the last weeks than TN has in the last three years.

He finished strong though. He's still looking like a very good NCAA QB. He has 1459 yards with a 61% completion rate, 14 TDs to 2 Int through 5 games. Option offense or not, those are good numbers for a QB.

No, Clemson has. Boyd's WRs at Clemson could make Jim Bob Cooter look great. Also doesn't hurt that Virginia Tech has no offense.

Boyd was beyond unimpressive in the Tech game. I went up to Blacksburg hoping to see a pretty good quarterback, and instead I saw a passer with limited accuracy and less big-time running ability than I expected.

He's not as good as advertised.

He's only a Sophomore. This was the first road game he ever started.

That doesn't mean I can't be unimpressed, especially after the hyping up he's been receiving.

40% on completions is terrible no matter the experience level.

Why could TN not have both? Redshirt Bray. Let Tajh Boyd start three years, then Bray start two years. Great teams need four stars backing up four stars.

Stupid idea. You would have to run two totally different offenses for each QB.

Absurd post. Bray seems the better pro style QB, no question about that, but you don't ever turn away very talented players that want to come, especially when you have a roster that is sorely lacking in talent when you do it. Boyd has talent, looks alot better in the pocket than I thought he would.

He wasn't turned away. He was told he would have to change positions. He didn't want to and went elsewhere

Not true. He was told he could keep his schollie but there would be no plans for him in the new offense. (nothing about no plans at QB.)

Auburn ran two different offenses the last two years, and they have changed again this year. TN used to rotate Brent Schaeffer and Erik Ainge in the same game.

IMO, Kiffin did Boyd and UT a favor by sending him along. Boyd found an offense and a Malzahn-diciple offensive coordinator that fits him perfectly. We found Bray who is a terrific pro-style QB. I don't see how you can't look at this and be pleased with the way it turned out for everyone involved.

I agree, it's not like he would have started over bray in this offense anyway. Some of you are really odd in your wishful thinking. I'll take our gunslinger over him any day, though that's not to say Tajh isn't a talent which he certainly is.

And that worked out great for UT.
