From direct first person accounts on the ground, this is what I'm hearing.
For our Afghan allies? News reports say differently. I saw a report from a former soldier the other day who said his interpreter when he was in country was in hiding because he was being hunted by the Taliban.

Do you have any idea if they are venturing outside the embassy coumpound? I’d guess it’s peachy in there as they have their own power generation and water reserves also. But what about maybe 10km away from the embassy.

Not sure. The people left that I know are not doing anything outside of Embassy grounds. In fact, they have been forbidden to leave protection of U.S. forces. Right now the story is any American that wants to leave can on the next flight, however, given the space constraints on getting other nationals out, they are asking for volunteers to stay at the embassy for a little longer. We have a handful of guys that have volunteered to stay. There seems to be little concern that all Americans will be able to get out or that they are not safe at the embassy. Volunteer or not, we have told our guys they have to be out before 31 August and it's non-negotiable.

From what I know, to get from the Embassy to the airport they are using helicopters. I can't say what the street conditions are or what it is like outside of the Embassy or Airport.

You’ve lost your damn mind.

Actually you have. The complete collapse of the ANA and Afghan government absolutely is on the last 20 years.

The cluster**** of a withdrawal we are seeing is on Biden.

Pinning the whole Afghan collapse on Biden is just plain stupid.

Our Afghan allies are getting killed. The Taliban is actively hunting Afghans that helped us and are executing them. I've not seen a report suggesting they're letting these people through safely.
If they would just tell the Taliban they worked with the US military they will let them through. Joe already explained it. Sheesh.

That’s fair and makes sense. I’d expect what you are hearing from inside the embassy is calm and I expect that. I’d guess it’s very different out in the common areas of the city which is what we are seeing on the news. Again just a guess. That’s all.

You realize the majority of our Afghan allies, such as former interpreters and their families, are not safe and sound in the embassy. The Taliban is actively hunting any Afghans they deem helped Americans and executing them. They are not being given free passage, they are not safely tucked away in the embassy, they are in hiding, in fear for their lives.

I'm not sure anyone is arguing Biden is responsible for the events that led up to where we were pre pullout. Just that his execution and lack of flexibility/adaptation to deteriorating conditions and even more the complete breakdown and lack of communication/instruction to Americans and our allies creating this humanitarian crisis.

Not to mention what comes after we leave, but I won't saddle just Biden with that. That's on our foreign policy and administrations for the last 40 to 60 years and the Taliban/fundamental Islamists.

I would guess it's bad. There are a few videos on CNN with a reporter on the ground walking the street. Gunshots everywhere and Taliban out there whipping people and trying to keep them away from the Airport.

Yea I would guess it is too. That is what is driving perception those news images. I absolutely believe your buddies are safe in the embassy and grilling and I want them to stay that way. I think that’s the exception not the rule and their asses better be out by midnight Aug 31

@Orangeslice13 is saying exactly that:

Let me get this clear, are you saying that the Taliban wouldn't have taken over if this withdrawal would have gone smoothly?

Exactly what I’m saying.

So an orderly withdrawal would have saved the country from being taken back from the Taliban. And the ANA would not have folded when U.S. support left in an orderly fashion.

Based on what?

Asked and answered

No, you haven't. What would an orderly withdrawal have done to keep the ANA from folding when the last U.S. soldier left?

You said "from what you were hearing on the ground", the Taliban was letting our allies move freely to the airport. That's not true in terms of our Afghan allies that we promised safety. They are being hunted.

I've specifically said not the Afghans that helped us.

The only thing I know is the situation on the ground seems to be to let Americans and allies get out. After 31 August, all bets are off.

The terror seems to be centered around going after the locals who helped the Americans.

He is responsible for what is currently happening with getting our citizens and our allies out of that country. The blame for that is NOT shared by past administrations. It's HIS screw up. People need to stop deflecting and making excuses for him.
Only if you consider Biden responsible for not un-doing what Trump did with the Taliban "agreement" last year.

Yes mid-level. Nobody on here can explain why this is a disaster. A disaster is when American lives are lost, has that happened during the withdrawal? “ it’s a sh$t show”, “it’s disorganized.” Boo-frickity-hoo. Or maybe you like this one, “Biden’s putting civilians in danger.” Hello people! The very fact these people set foot in Afghanistan has caused them to be in danger.
You all know as well as I do the Taliban we’re gonna take over and a humanitarian crises was coming. That’s the fault of 20 years of sh$t policy.
Could it be the 1000s of American hostages in a enemy country as a result of Biden??? Or wait theres more why not giving them money and weapons as well??
