Never underestimate the power of a politician to turn tragedy into political gain. I'm convinced Bush would have been one term if not for 9/11. We suddenly had a common enemy, Bush's ratings took off, and the Patriot Act was like Christmas for intelligence agencies and police all across the country. Count on this attack being more than a simple setback in the evacuation process. Biden and the dems may have just been thrown a lifeline if they spin it right.
Based on watching this clown show for seven months I simply don’t think they are smart enough.

You wouldn't think so, but 81M people supposedly voted for it, and there's no good evidence of buyer's remorse among that group. If elections were this year, it could be a problem; but the electorate has an amazing fondness for amnesia and "what have you done for me lately". I'd bet they manage a whopper of a vote getter at least before the next elections - the vote buying kind of thing.

Very likely, but as a military they are equipped to handle it. We could’ve run close air support and made it a living hell for any enemy personnel to get too close. Trying to evacuate under fire while having to carry out a humanitarian aid mission puts our military personnel at much greater risk, as demonstrated. I know I could fight a helluva lot better without a couple of unarmed, scared civilians hanging all over me.

Seems almost like you'd have to put all those people and our military inside the airport fence to protect them and to have any kind of buffer zone. The pictures I've seen don't make much sense from a security standpoint. Look at out southern border - everybody is allowed to cross, and then the sorting, distribution, and detention takes place; you'd think where security is a problem, that would be the choice.

GRIMM62 (B-52) is over the UAE headed east. There have been others in the past couple of weeks - all with the GRIMM callsign but with no evidence they have been over Afghanistan or done anything at all there.

That's complete bullsh!t. You have a powerful military, you send enough force to evacuate citizens and arms. You don't put a time limit on it and you don't wage continual war. You make a plan to get out and you execute it. Thinking we couldn't withdraw taking our people and equipment out safely is just dishonesty or lunacy.

We're a nation of bureaucracies and managers. Managers dictate schedules and plans (sometimes realistic ones); people on scene doing the work (although they know firsthand) don't get to say when the job is complete or what changes are needed. It's the problem with layers of management, and a management is everything culture. The paternalistic or dictatorial approach rather than creating competency and dedication and developing trust in the people at the working end.

Angelina Jolie Blasts Biden On Afghanistan, Says She’s ‘Ashamed’ Of His Handling Of Withdrawal

‘A failure almost impossible to understand’

By Megan Basham

Actress Angelina Jolie joined Instagram last week and she used her first post to slam President Biden on his approach to Afghanistan.

Jolie shared that she was in Afghanistan mere weeks before the September 11, 2001 terror attacks and met refugees fleeing the Taliban.

She then went on to express her disappointment with how the Biden administration has handled the withdrawal of troops, saying:
There is hope for her yet. Maybe she's more like her daddy than we thought?🤔

This is a terrible day. Thirteen dead and scores wounded. Not to mention the Afghan casualties.

And the Biden administration will likely be another casualty of this war. I don't see how they bounce back politically.

But it's disgusting so many people here seem to be celebrating this failure. Really, shameful.

Save your glee at the political consequences for later.
No one is celebrating. Get off your fake cross

Look around. It's absolutely happening and it's shameful.

Observing the reality of the situation isn't "celebrating", I get it that you aren't capable of changing your mind when it comes to politicians because they belong to a specific political party but that doesn't change yesterday's events and quite frankly the events of the last several months economically. Outside of the turd sandwich in Afghanistan, inflation is a major issue and the Biden administration is doubling down on stupid by insisting on spending additional trillions of dollars to continue to inflate the money supply.

Get off your high horse. Bashing Biden and his administration for this horrible tragedy isn't celebrating it. Not even close to the same thing.

My heart goes out to the families of the soldiers that were murdered. I can’t wait for the day that our troops aren’t overseas. But thanks to the bipartisan military industrial complex, I don’t know if I’ll live to see it…

I don’t think they can escape this. The next election cycle is gonna be January 6 vs August in Afghanistan who ****ed it up more.

I don’t know of anyone in particular that’s celebrating this. Everyone I know….. including some that I know voted for Biden are appalled.
This clown show is nothing to celebrate.
