Talking Watches with Volnation

I love Hodinkee, but the Bethenny Frankel "Talking Watches" is akin to jumping the shark for me. I'll never knock a man or woman for being wealthy and buying whatever they fancy, but Bethenny clearly appreciates jewelry (and "gifts"!) as opposed to timepieces and the heavy-handed appreciation for her "insight" going on in the comment section is just a bridge too far.

Also, I'll never understand the infatuation with Cara.

Yes I've seen that one as well. I tried on the IWC Mark viii once and I think it's about 40mm. More manageable size. The blue dial in ceramic black is gorgeous.
Not a big fan of the black case, but love each of the dials on the Mark. White/blue/black gimme any of em!

Whew! Just checked out the comments over there. All over the place. I thought the episode was fine. Not one to rewatch or anything. She has a surface level understanding of watches. Likes them because they are pretty and carry a high price tag. Like most materialistic women. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I bought this watch 9 years ago and do not plan on buying another. It was pricy but worth every penny.

I have an older Tag chrono and was salivating when this watch came out. I was in Indonesia and on a layover in Singapore I went looking to buy one of these. When I saw one, Dmmm that is a big watch! I'm not a big guy an the watch covered my entire wrist......so, i had to pass but it a great looking watch. BTW, my older TAG i've had for 16 yrs. and still keeps great time!

This one today. I know this brand catches some heat from the watch community but I've been really happy with this one. Have a good Friday!View attachment 256177
It does for whatever reasons. Think it has to do with snobs who geek out on the technical side of watches. I don’t care! I like a lot of their designs! They use great fonts. Cool piece and really like it on that beige nato!

I love the numerals and the black face. Here is a funny story about the Movado Museum watch. I worked in a jewelry store in the early 70's in New Haven Connecticut, and we sold Rolex, Omega, Glycine, Accutron, Movado, etc. The store was downtown, and it seems like at least 8 out of 10 of the downtown, inner city people who saw the Museum watch, with no markings on the face, other than a gold dot at 12, said "how you tell time with that watch?"

That’s an interesting seamaster. You know what year? Wonder if that was the first iteration of the wave dial. Didn’t know it had been used before the last few references Omega has put out.
Not the best pic......

I bought it in ‘96/‘97
