Tamari's Out...What Happens Next

Junior year she injured her knee Volfan, and her freshman year she was obviously playing behind some upperclassmen early but you can see her stats, she turned it on and had an awesome freshman year once inserted.
Whatever not arguing she is not a excellent player just not going to determine someone else can't get a lot better in an off season if they lock in on one position. Michael Jordan as a freshman in college to a senior then even from there the Pros is a totally different player. I've seen players make huge strides from nothing to something. If your saying Marta doesn't have the athletic skills to get better well I disagree and we can leave it at that.

You must be talking about a different player on a different team. If you have seen Marta play for three years you must live in Spain and saw her play in high school.
Marta is a very capable SEC player and will be an important part of this team for the NEXT THREE years as she only played a partial year as a freshman.
So your three year comment was silly. I guess you just needed a little attention.
You Lucy are totally out of your mind........and missed kicking the football once again.

Key averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds a game.
But she completely fked up opposing teams’ offense with her defensive skills. Teams won’t be afraid to drive on Franklin or Hollingshead. Even if she wasn’t playing well, the thought of her blocking shots made the other team think twice about challenging her.

Her defense is what will be missed the most imo. By far.

Can’t coach size. But you can game plan for it and around it.

I think she does JMO she at this point in her career hasn't accepted the role of which she is best suited. Maybe she never will.
So if Marta doesn't become a Holmes like player, it's her fault because she didn't accept her role or didn't practice enough ?
I normally agree with your opinions, but on this one, I disagree.

Not saying that she could ever become Holmes not even what I said in any post. I said that is the style she needs to play and I think she could play it well. I think she could become a Holmes like even if she only averaged 10 ppg or even less. She can already rebound as well. If she would skill herself on those kind of shots she would be doing better than she is now trying to be a perimeter player. I don't know how much she could progress maybe none, maybe a lot. There have been a lot of players go from nothing to something in one summer. So yes she needs to play the same style as Holmes whether she could ever reach her level of efficiency no one knows that and won't know cause I don't see her ever changing what she is doing now unless someone coaching her insists on it. I just do not accept the concept that a player can't progress their skills amazingly in an off season. I have seen to many player do it.

While true, the size is a great insurance plan for when team defense breaks down. It took pressure off her teammates knowing she would clean up a lot of their defensive mistakes.

It won’t be easy to replace probably the best defensive player in Tennessee history

Mine was a two parter. I should have broke it down. Keys size, can’t coach. God given

Now easier to game plan around as an opposing team.

Yes her defense will be missed but at the same time she was beat many times this year by players driving right by her and taking it to the basket. Her defense had some holes in it

Yes her defense will be missed but at the same time she was was not nearly as effective defensively this year as last year so IMO you vastly overstated the intimidation factor. More problematic is defending big posts like Kitley, Boston, Brink. etc.

And that’s why Tennessee has 5 losses this year. That wasn’t an issue last year, which is largely why they got off to a hot start.

If we're still pigeonholing the Bulls comparison I would switch the roles with Jackson as Michael Jordan and Horston as Pippen. Jackson is the best pure scorer on the team. Horston is the much better playmaker and defender...

I don't necessarily disagree with that. Missed a few of the early games. At this point, unsure of Jackson's abilities.

Obviously, those two need to be our leading two scorers most nights...much like Jordan and Pippen.

Or, if you are old enough to remember them, here is another high scoring shooting guard / small forward combo who would get us 40+ points per night.

Does Marta have the athletic ability ?

Yes. And, playing with an incredible level of passion.

I do think she will have a lot of foul issues, because she is hacking them up. As someone else said, she defends better than you think. The occasional match-ups with fast guards sticks in people's minds. But, inside she is in there thugging and we need that.

As we will see against the Stanford big girl, when the ball comes inside, Karo, Jill, and Marta will all three be bodying her. Hope Franklin can also bring that skill to the table.

Time for Striplin and Hollingshead to step up. Karo is physical down low and will wear on other post. Karo also does a great job setting screen to allow open shots. Hollingshead is very verse as well and can contribute with her size and athleticism. I like this duo.

Hollingshead won't block 100 shots per game like Key -- but she has more raw talent, a higher motor, and the upside to be a better overall player/pro IMO...
