That was the most clutch performance I have ever seen in baseball in my life. To have the guys start the bottom of the 9th down a couple runs with batters #6 - #8 due up and rally hit after hit after hit was unbelievable. Coach gets HUGE credit for pinch hitting Peebles, and getting everyone hyped up by leaving the dugout fussing in the heat of the moment. What we just witnessed will be a Game for the ages IMO. This team has been to Omaha 3 out of the last 4 years and finally won their opening game...this might be a National Championship team fellas. Need pitching to improve immediately though.
This guy Wheels does a good job editing on BaseVols games
I'm like you. In fact, we were watching from a dinner party at a friend's home last night; When Vols were down 4-9 I told my wife "Let's go home". We did, & I didn't turn on the radio nor the t.v. when we got home. Went right to bed. Son called later to say "Had it all the way"...thought he was being sarccastic, then he realized I was ignorant of the result. These Tennessee Volunteers baseballers are just amazing! This old curmudgeon got his face rubbed in it, & it felt GOOOOOD!I’m so glad that I no longer check VN during the games. I’m sure fans were trashing them during the game
Wonder if they are also complaining about all the strikes that were called balls they got the benefit of in the first inning alone.Fla St fans are on YouTube complaining that Burke went on that check swing and the game should have been over, think they got cheated. Hope we can play them again and give them a brutal beat down next time.
Well they need to go back and watch the umpire call a ball on strike three a couple of times that would have ended the inning without them scoring a couple of runs. Gotta look at the whole game, not just a slice. Wonder if FSU still wants to join the S.E.C. ?Fla St fans are on YouTube complaining that Burke went on that check swing and the game should have been over, think they got cheated. Hope we can play them again and give them a brutal beat down next time.
Tale as old as time. Or as old as VN. And you know which ones are gonna be doing it.I’m so glad that I no longer check VN during the games. I’m sure fans were trashing them during the game
Yes. I saw that. I talked to Tony after the game, he called me, and told him that he really didn't need to talk about that to the media. I told him he should just take the credit and move on...I'm good here. They mentioned in the post game how they saw your challenge and how they were all talking about it in the dugout in the 9th and how they needed to prove something to you.
I think that’s the thing about this team. I don’t know that they have anymore that game than any other. Had they lost after coming back within striking distance, that would have been tough emotionally.I’m not sure we have much left in the tank after that, but hell or high water, this team just finds a way.
We’d be saying the same if the roles were reversed as it was about as close as it could be. Easily could have been called differently - the baseball gods were on our side with that 50/50 call.Fla St fans are on YouTube complaining that Burke went on that check swing and the game should have been over, think they got cheated. Ha, he definitely went. But several strikes were definitely called balls, too. It's baseball. What a dang game!!Yep. And every championship team needs a few breaks to cut their way to win it all. We finally got one in a big moment. I won’t lose sleep over it. But I can understand why FSU fans will.
Hope it worked for him. Even with extra time callout my DVR shut off as Stark was coming to the plate. That could lead one to a sad conclusion. Right now is earliest replay I could find.Tale as old as time. Or as old as VN. And you know which ones are gonna be doing it.
My dad texted me he had to be up super early today so he was going to bed, but was taping it and would watch with his coffee this morning. I told my husband I hope he didn't see the score before he finished the game
He wouldn't need the coffee to wake up. Lol
@GandalfI normally think baseball is like watching paint dry but if you are a Vol fan and watched that and didnt get excited, you dont have a pulse!
Such an amazing comeback. AND the first CWS cycle in nearly 70 years!

Agree but I was just as hot as they are with the strikes called balls that gave them runs and keep them in innings. We’d be saying the same if the roles were reversed as it was about as close as it could be.
